In comics Batman is just a cold person doing whatever is needed to accomplish his goal. Even if others think what he’s doing is morally ambiguous, in his own mind he thinks he’s doing what’s right and holding that belief steadfast. I don’t mean to sound like a nerd or anything but, he made plans to immobilize the justice league if they were to ever become rogue or something.  In the eyes of his buddies it was a “Richard” move. People took offense and objected to it and all but he thought it was to protect people.

I don’t think he actually read Emerson’s essay and decided, “ hey time to get writing” but I think the two interlock pretty well. It’s about a man who lived his life the way he wanted and by what he thought best. He admits that he messed up at times and has some stuff he wished he hadn’t done, but nonetheless he was content with himself for doing things based on his own accord. I think that the line mentioning the Iron string that vibrates ones heart is a solid line to represent what is sung. Although in retrospect some things were really really stupid, the fact that he did it the way he wanted should make yourself proud. I think the very last lines of the song represent Emerson’s essay especially well, asking who a person is if they don’t even live by their own principles. Saying what you want to say despite what others could think and accepting the consequences. His use of color and brush motion to represent emotion is seen as some of the most influential in Expressionism. Sadly his art was only recognized after his death.
