It took place on April 1775. There was about 400 militiamen at the battle and soon more would join in. The British fled but along the way the colonists fired down on them, it became a massacre and a twenty mile road that turned into a battlefield. On that day more than 300 British died and lees then 100 patriots died. The start of the battle took place at old north bridge. Know one knows who fired the first shot of the war, which is very weird. A colonial officer said don’t fire in till you see the whites of there eyes. Another officer yelled “fire, fellow soldiers, for gods sake fire!” And now it is a famous saying of the revolutionary war.

Muzzle-loading muskets were 4 feet, 8 to 12 pounds, and were loaded on the open end, the muzzle. Carbines were lighter than other rifles, shorter than other rifles, and was used most often by cavalry soldiers. The breech-loading rifles, unlike the muzzle-loading rifle, was loaded in the breech, the bottom end of the gun. The Pennsylvania long rifles could shoot up to 200 yards but was very slow on reloading, so it was not ideal on the battlefield. Cavalry pistols were often used in pairs, and stayed in pouches called holsters until needed. Hand grenades were smaller, rarer weapons that exploded when a lit fuse reaches gunpowder in the grenade. The tomahawk were small axes, that started out on the frontier for cutting wood, but were deadly on the battlefield, for they could become a throwing star. A bayonet was one of the soldiers most important weapons, because they could be attached to a rifle and stabbed at enemies.
