Each Bishop has the fullness of the sacrament of Holy Orders. This means that they received the full teaching authority that Jesus gave to the twelve because they have received these special graces that allows them to perform special sacraments such as holy orders.

Each bishops is generally entrusted with a specific church or specific diocese
He is the visible source of unity within the diocese
The bishops are often organized into a bishops conference.
