Indifference is the lack of interest, the thought of not caring what happens or who it happens too. Indifference can cause a lot of issues and miscommunication.

The Homeless: Local Indifference

Have you ever just walked past a homeless person on the street and not even looked down at them to acknowledge that they're there? This is a sign of indifference.

When shopping or grabbing a coffee, walking or driving past a homeless person and showing them a sign that you see them trying is enough to make them continue that hope. A little bit of money could go a long way for someone who has nothing, if you don't have money on you then it still counts to talk to them or to stand and clap if they're doing something they love to make money.

Trash Clean-up: Personal Indifference

Most people love animals, plants and just the environment, but everyday those same people will walk past a pile of trash on the side of the road of in a ditch and not care enough to clean it up.

This is a sign of indifference, you say you love the environment but you don't care enough to think about what this little piece of plastic can do to it? All over our earth are animals eating garbage which will eventually give them a disease or kill them.

By picking up some trash or participating in your community trash pick-up day can do so much more, the indifference you have to just walk by it and not think about what that may do is not ok. At the end of the day this situation might come to bite us all in the butt as animals are going extinct and plants are consuming this toxic waste, so than what will we eat?

Racism: Global Indifference

Do you have any friends with a different race then you? have you ever seen that friend being made fun of or certain jokes being made about them and you didn't do anything about it? This is a example of indifference.

Racism is a major topic on social media and just in general right now. Racism is not ok, if you hear someone making jokes about someones race, whether there's someone of that race around or not you should still be saying something. I know its hard to stand up against people sometimes but as long as you show that you care can make a difference.

Why does Indifference matter?

Solving indifference matters because its a hole in our humanity, fixing this would be helping our world become more peaceful and friendly. Indifference can cause, missed opportunities, unresolved problems and a world where no one cares enough to make a difference, but changing our mindset can prevent these issues and make things better.

Bullying: Personal Indifference

Whether its you bullying someone or watching someone else be bullied, not doing anything about it is a example of indifference.

Why sit back and watch someone else be punished for no reason? Not caring about bullying is a horrible thing to do. Stepping in and taking control of the situation can make a difference, telling an adult or a person in charge can also help. If you are the one bullying then you clearly don't care about others and you need to think about yourself being in their position.

Volunteer Hours: Local Indifference

As much as this is a necessity because you need it to graduate, it's also something that teens and kids should be signing up for without a reason to. This may seem like a Personal Indifference too but it can be local as a position that needs volunteers usually needs a certain amount of people who want to help.

Why is this an Indifference? Well its an indifference because there's many things around your town that may need some extra people to help out with it, if its a day camp counselling position or a snack bar worker, its always nice to do something good for your community instead of not caring for it and letting them figure it out themselves, you never know maybe you will make some friends by doing it!!

Climate Change: Global Indifference

Recently governments worldwide have slowly started to take action on our climate, but why are we moving so slow? It shows that climate isn't their top priority and doesn't matter as much as it should to everyone, sure other things matter but climate and our earth should always come first.

Investing in renewable energy sources, implementing carbon pricing for companies who need it. These are things we have started to consider as days go on but we need to make a final decision. Making more decisions like the Paris Agreement can help our countries stay organized and report back on their progress. however there are still some challenges we need to face. This s why climate change is a major indifference.
