This book's purpose is to inform the reader of all the many things that inhabit our world.

CONTENT/CURRICULUM - One way to use this book for a lesson would be to describe the world in spatial terms to students. Such as, land/sea, cities, roads, maps, continents, and space. Another content area this picture book would be useful in is demonstrating environment and society. Students could describe the environment they see throughout the story.

TRANSFER - Students will transfer the information they are learning from the book by describing the environment and the world they see throughout the story. There are several purposes this book can be utilized for because there are so many one-page biographies throughout.

CONTENT/CURRICULUM - The first way this book can be used in social studies is for it's biographies of the many black women who accomplished wonderful things in our history. More content areas this book could be used in is black history and women's history. With the wide variety of biographies shared within this book, this book could have multiple different uses for Social Studies purposes within the classroom.

TRANSFER - Students could create their own auto-biographies after reading some of the stories within this book. Students could also begin a research project by studying one of the women mentioned throughout the book. Cinderella variations told of stories similar to Cinderella in Canada, China, Egypt, and France give students the chance to hear about something familiar to them but in different ways than traditional literature. 

CONTENT/CURRICULUM - This book can be used in a lesson to teach children how a story can change depending on what culture or place is represented within. This book also has the opportunity to teach students different vocabulary words from different cultures and give context on how those words would be used. Lastly, this book can be used to help children identify key ideas or details from different cultures represented throughout the story.

TRANSFER - Students can transfer new vocabulary words learned throughout the four stories and be able to use them in their own stories. Students will also transfer identifying key details throughout a story to identify the culture/place the story is set in. A second way to use this book could be when teaching a lesson about Non-fiction reading and response. A third way to use this book could be to introduce the United States Constitution to students.

TRANSFER - Students could transfer topic, main idea, author’s purpose, and supporting details from a non-fiction story into writing or a web. Themes can also be taught and examined in this story using power, privilege, and bias.

TRANSFER - Students can transfer how to take a main topic with supporting details from a picture book text.
