1. Devices can be stolen. From text 1 it says: "In January 2012, police arrested 13 high school students from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. People accused them of stealing more than $4,000 worth of cell phones and tablets. An undercover investigation by the police found that at least 24 devices had been stolen."

2. They are distractions. From text 2: "In an op-ed piece from The New York Post, Naomi Schaefer Riley argues it is a 'terrible idea to allow cell phones in school.' She claims students already spend too much time staring at screens. She says students will now spend their class time looking at their phones. They should be paying attention in class." 

3. It may not help school safety in an emergency. From Text 1: "The NSSSS website says, 'The use of cell phones by students could... decrease, not increase, school safety during a crisis.' When students use their cell phones during emergencies another problem can be caused. Student's calls may cause their parents to rush to the school during an emergency. Emergency workers may not want to have tons of parents running to the school. All those parents might get in the way during an emergency. They might make things less safe." 

Some people like them because they can know when something happens at home. In many reasons phones can be allowed in many different scenarios, such as playing a game or texting your mom about leaving your pink hearted and cheese notebook at home. (That was a joke and I am sorry) But, phones can NOT be allowed in many reasons, such as finding the answer in math, texting your friends: Bro wanna play after school????? To be honest, I think phones should be allowed but banned in many places, such as the classroom, and lunch and recess. There should be some phone time in free time in class so that kids can play on their phones for a little bit then go back to class. In lunch and recess, obviously NO. Why would you use your phone at lunch? To be honest you should be focusing on eating that just watching Instagram Reels on your phone just like my Mother who literally has TikTok downloaded in her expensive iPhone 12 Mini. In Recess, why would you be on your phone? Recess is all about enjoying outside and having wind just blow your mouth off. Not just make Tiktoks as your whole recess time. Also, it should be allowed in the bus since it wouldn't really annoy anyone except taking a picture with flash on. 

To be honest, cellphone safety is pretty bad. Having your cellphones in your backpack can decrease your cellphone safety. Imagine someone just took your phone and they walk up to a Sunglasses wallpaper as your lock screen. Embarrassing wouldn't it. Plus, if you use it in class, it would be a easy snatch from your teacher. Teachers probably don't want cellphones in class all because of Google.

Many students don't have cell phones due to not being able to pay for them or not having parents' permission, it may also be a big distraction in class for other students and even the teacher. As Google states "Students often forget to turn off their phones in class, and ringing noises or text-message alerts disrupt learning and school work".  By Jeremy, age 11 he states that "every day when kids go to school and they have to leave their cell phones behind at home, that is a huge problem.

IT might be better for the school staff and parents. For my three reasons they would be the usage of the phones, security reasons, and "accident" reasons. The usage of the phone would be very minimal usage as we would only be able to use it during lunch if were alone, and not during class unless its educational. During lunch the students should socialize. The phones should only be used during lunch if the kids are sad or don't feel ok with other kids. My other reason is security reasons. If parents don't feel ok with kids not bringing phones, they should bring their phones. In case of an emergency. Students should be able to contact over phone but to make sure parents do not pull up their cars into the school. And my last reason would be for things like spills or expels. In case a kids spilled juice or water on themselves, they would call their parents and get new, clean clothes.
