If you haven't posted anything yet, your silence is heard. If you're a minority and you haven't said anything, your silence is heard. If you take from black culture, and you haven't said anything, your silence is heard. If you can take time to repost when your favorite artist is dropping music, you can take time to help the black community be heard. If you can tell us when to like your recent, you can most definitely help spread awareness. I hope that if you're staying silent, that it's for a good reason, although I can't think of a good reason. I hope you're still doing your part. I hope you're donating, signing petitions, calling, texting, emailing, spreading awareness. If your excuse is, "Well, all lives matter," I hope you understand that that movement was meant to silence the black community once again. Don't stand by because you don't want to get involved, be an ally. The black community has been oppressed for years, let them be heard.

- Jayrylle Jaylo

I will never go through the pain the black community experiences, every single day. I can not describe their hurt. I can only imagine how it is like living in such oppression for centuries. I am frustrated that I can only do so much right now. I am frustrated that figures we look up to, who have a platform, are doing the bare minimum. I am disappointed that our community has failed to bring these issues to light, until it is a trend. I am disappointed at the amount of preformative activism I see, the lack of any activism, or worse, blatant racism. Your silence is heard and noted, if you can be neutral in the face of such racial injustice, you are a part of the problem.

Social media is a powerful tool to forward movements right now and a lot of information and meaning are getting lost. We forget that the media does not show us everything and we are too quick to judge the situation. Riots would not have started if peaceful protests work. These peaceful protests are not overreactions, they demonstrate the centuries of suffering the black community faces in America.

There are a lot of gray areas. Some people do not support the destructive riots. I am not one of them. When you start a conversation about large corporations or even small businesses being affected by these riots before saying anything about the innocent lives being lost, it devalues the actions of the movement and puts the focus on the symptoms of the problem and not the roots of it. I do not blame individuals for this because we were raised in a capitalist country and these morales reflect the corrupt values of our society. In truth, these riots are suppose to hurt, we should feel the destructive effect of it in order to change. The more you’re educated, the more you can see past these tactics to undermine the BLM movement. Stop blaming others and instead question the authorities.

Speaking of undermining tactics, the peaceful protests you see in the media is not a true reflection of what is happening, the media is flawed. Do not buy into the lies of what the media is showing you like you buy the products from corrupt corporations. The police officers pose for the cameras and then go back to brutalizing the protesters. We are persuaded to believe otherwise to neutralize our voices.

Do your own research before believing anything you see or hear. Read up on these matters, watch videos, learn. It is a learning process for everyone. Please look into petitions you can sign, donations you can help, and most importantly, educating yourself, your family and your community is the best way to make an impact.

Ps. Realize your privilege. If you feel that it is difficult to understand why people resort to violence, it is hinting at your privilege protecting you from situations where you are forced to make that decision. It is also a privilege to be able to go about your daily life normally in a national crisis and urgent fight for racial injustice. It means you have the privilege to do so. Realize it and put it to work helping others without that privilege.
- Nancy Le

I want to speak my mind on how many schools and student leaders are rather choosing to be quiet than use their platform to spread awareness. This is not something you should be quiet about. I don't know what might be going through their heads when they choose to not do anything and I don't know what kind of situation they are in, but if you're always on social media posting about how someone should like your picture, or reposting stories about how your favorite rapper died, and specifically if you posted about what happened to Kobe Bryant, I would expect you to bring what's currently happening to light as well. Their silence is heard, and it makes me sick that some of people like to use racial slurs in their every day life, but still choose to not stand up for the black community. If you like their culture, their music, and whatever else, stand up for them at a time where their voices need to be heard.

Back to what I began with how schools and servant leaders are not addressing this issue. It despises me that they choose to run for a position to support their school, but when students of the black community genuinely need help and support, they are no where to be found. That goes to the school accounts on social media, I have only seen a few post anything regarding to this issue, and I applaud them for that. But for those who haven't or say they will eventually, I don't care who you are or what you might have done already, but it should be expected of someone who supposedly cares so much about their school, that they should speak up more on this. I am disgusted that they call themselves servant leaders, but when people need their support and reassurance that they know what is happening, they are not there. I see you, and your silence is heard.

-Thien Nguyen

It is maddening to even think POC get treated like this just because they are different from white people. This country 100% disgusts me. I hate how BLM has to become a trend on social media for people to care about it or for someone of color to lose their life for people to act upon it. The BLM movement should matter every single day not only when it's a trend. I am glad people are standing up for something that's not right and inhumane. Peaceful protests were not enough to bring attention to the situation, so I am glad people started destroying property because now the whole country is talking about it. The thing that gets me mad is seeing Hispanic news channels only talk about the violence and destruction being caused instead of talking about what specifically caused people to be so mad. We are ALL mad because there has been numerous deaths from the black community caused by cops who don't face the consequences of their actions. As a person of color myself, no one should be oppressed just because we have different cultures or skin color. People who stand by and say "well all lives matter" are ignorant. White privilege exists and I am glad that many white people are using their privilege to stand up for the black community. Many people getting arrested. For what? What is the reason? For standing up for people who have been oppressed for centuries? Is that such a bad thing that people are getting arrested for? Absolutely disgusting. Many videos I've seen on social media just show how brutally cops are treating everyone that are involved in protests, but once the news channels turn on their cameras, they just stand as if they are the innocent ones. We need change. Our government absolutely disgusts me. What benefits them from treating POC so different. My sister showed me a video a few days ago where a cop pulled over a white female. She told him "I don't want to put my hands down because I've seen videos of cops shooting people ." And the cop had the audacity to say "But you're not black. Remember we only kill black people." Just hearing that makes me furious. That is 100% racism right there for the people who say racism isn't a thing anymore. I have inserted a link below for the ones interested in the video or the ones who haven't seen it.

Over all I am just so disappointed in what our country has always been what it will always be if we don't change it once and for all. I wish it wouldn't have come to this for people to realize it isn't right how people from the black community get treated. I am glad people are fighting for change.

We all stand together with the black community always.

- Andrea Luna-Sandoval

I have taken the past weeks to reflect on the horrible things happening to the black community. I have chosen to speak out about the problem on all of my platforms. I say this not to show off but because I do believe that silence is violence. If you say nothing, nothing will be changed. You can't expect a change when you don't fight/work for it. As a person of color I know that it is our turn to stand up for our brothers and sisters, the same way they would for us. When we were facing the wall and the injustice of deportation and all the horrible things our country wanted to do to my fellow latinos, who was standing with us? OUR FELLOW BLACK BROTHERS AND SISTERS. We just like they did should stand with them in their troubles and help. We are not the problem! We are not thugs, rapists, thieves, or illegals. We are human beings. Just like everyone else and these names we are called are not who we are.

SPEAK OUT! God gave you a voice to tell the adversary to stop and back down. SILENCE IS VIOLENCE! But make sure you are using your voice to show that people are oppressed. I am sick and tired of hearing people say "All lives matter" . WHO SAID THEY DIDN'T? By saying black lives matter we are not saying that no other life matters, we are saying that African Americans need to be heard because they are on fire. I heard this analogy and think it works perfectly. If a house in your neighborhood was on fire and the firemen were tending to it, they would go to the house on fire first, right? So when you say all lives matter you are saying that the firefighters should go to every house before checking on the one on fire. No they should not, they should address the problem and then go and see if the rest are okay. So we must address the problem. People of the Black Community are on fire! They need us to bring them water and stop the fire. The fire of false accusations, unnecessary arrest, racial profiling and any other thing they are facing. We must bring the waters of awareness to others so they can help put out their fire and make others understand the struggles they are going through. People need to understand their privilege and use it. Because without it we will get nowhere. I am disappointed and in shock that this is what our country has become. A place of fear, sorrow, anger, judgment, injustice, and racism. What happened to land of the free? What happened to liberty and justice for all? Just something to think about.

Please use your voice to combat the racism going across this country. Your voice counts, use your privilege.

-Ashante Carreon

It makes me angry that the black community continues to live with injustice and racism for many years up till this day. It's not okay. Police brutality, systematic racism and the structure of power designed to oppress POC has to come to an end. During these moments, it's important we stand together to fight for justice and peace. Glad this is a time where the voices of the black community are being amplified and honored. We MUST bring awareness to these injustices. It's important you use your voice during these times of anger, violence, fear and inequality. Black lives matter today, tomorrow, and forever.

- Jennifer Rodriguez

We all knew something was bound to happen sooner or later, and it came sooner than I thought. “Will my children face the same struggles as I will?”, has been a constant thought of mine over the years. Although I am not black I am a POC, and I have been discriminated against. It’s confusing though, not only have white people treated me unfairly, but also Asians and Blacks. I’m not here to tell a pity story on all the times I have been discriminated against. I’m lucky to be alive today. I’m lucky to have two parents that have provided most things for me. But that doesn’t mean I’m not scared for tomorrow or the future. Anything could happen, and we have seen it multiple times with all the black and POC that have died. I find it unbelievable how the races that are mostly discriminated against cannot stand together. I’m glad though that I have indeed seen most acting together, but it is heartbreaking knowing that there are still some out there that do not support the BLM. We have to begin somewhere to overcome racism. “This is too much, it’s too aggressive,” then what? What are we supposed to do, peaceful protesting? That obviously hasn’t been working. “If not now when, if not me who?” We have dealt with enough oppression. I am upset that my race and other generations did not have enough courage to take a stand, but now there is no reason to not take a stand. We must overcome our fears, and stand together. I’m sure we have all heard Martin Luther Kings’ speech of “I Have a Dream.” The question is, when will that dream stop being a dream, and become reality?

-Keyla R.

As a dark skin black women I'm fed up with the racism surrounding all of us! Every black person has experienced racism. Whether it's straight forward, gas lighting, or microaggressions. It's still racism and it usually comes from fellow students, coworkers, people in power, or randoms on the street. For years black people have fought for things to get better. For things to change. Now that the movement has gotten the most attention it has ever received people are finally listening. These protests are necessary for our survival at the end of the day. If we don't fight who will. I see all of the non- black poc and white allies who are standing with us. I am so grateful for the support people have show towards the black community. It is something I have wished for for years. For them to be outraged about these social injustices. I see that support now. It is not easy to be black in america. This is a country where people hate us for no good reason. The color of our skin is seen as a weapon and a threat. We get called burnt, monkey, the n word and its wrong! It's enraging to see this happen and to see all of this racism packed into every single murder of an innocent black person by a police officer or white supremacist. There's a very fine line between the two anyway. The past few months makes it feel like we can't go for a jog (Ahmaud Arbery), sit in our own homes (Breanna Taylor), or buy something from a store (George Floyd). What happened to them and hundreds of other innocent black people is horrible! There is no way to disagree or argue against that. Things have to change. It all starts with us. Sign petitions, donate, do whatever you can. I'll admit I have a lot more to do as well. An instagram story post and black screen is not enough.

I also want to address the videos of these murders. Watching another person get killed can be very detrimental to your mental health. So be careful and cautious with what you choose to watch. It can devalue a black person's body in your mind. Stay safe out there guys.

- Leila M'baye

as this is happening, I'm disturbed by the amount of police brutality being presented on black people. the fact that racism is still being brought up as of now, like honestly why can't we just talk to each other & work it out instead of taking one's life ? you've taken away the life of a person from their parents, friends, siblings, relatives, guardians. it's really sad to see that some people would think that to be "the right thing to do." but really, not ALL cops are bad as this. the media showcases videos of inappropriate behavior by a lot of cops, to be "all bad & brutal" which is why they get so much hate. it's like how a lot of Asians like me were looked down upon simply because of the corona virus that came from China. Even when I was walking down the hallways in school with a mask on, people would actually run from me & it was just so immature & rude like "oh she's Asian & has a mask on, she's gonna spread the virus !" not because they were running to "save themselves" but to mock me in a rude manner. a month later, the same people actually started wearing masks too like ?? being hypocritical I see. where's that energy when you first saw me with the mask ? 😐 man it hurts to see that now we have to protest to SAVE each other from getting hurt by anymore of a lot of those brutal cops. the thing I especially hate about is the amount of people that're taking advantage of this movement by breaking & looting into stores for their own benefit. although some people say that they do this "to show that they want change" you're still looting for YOUR OWN BENEFIT. this isn't supporting or helping at all. but even with peaceful protesting, innocent people are still getting hurt no matter what.

my thoughts & prayers go out to all of the people out there & everyone else 🙏 stay safe.

- JT

Maybe, maybe not, either way that in itself is already wrong, why are you getting mad about the color and not about the fact the people are killing each other, we shouldn't be talking about the color and instead the fact that a police killed an innocent man. Not that he killed a black man. In the end we are all the same because we are all human at the end of the day.”
-Erick Olguin

For me racism has always been an underling problem and worry but it hasnt always been really present and thats due to the fact that im asian as well as black but hadl my family is black so id always hear the horrific storys when i was younger and there were always these like unspoken rules to life for being a POC, you know "dont make eye contact with a cop unless being spoken to" "dont wear a hood in the ghetto" "always leave a store witha reciept and bag" all these things that we just started to live by because they were normal but me and my family knew that people that werent a POC didnt have to abide by to protect their life. equality is a very broad topic but i can wrap up racial inequality in a sentence and thats the sad part and this is probably as easy as it gets. a white man can chase after a yound black man carrying a firearm ashoot hi in the chest because he was "suspicious" and have it justified by self defense but that same young black man lying 6 ft under couldnt walk home with skittes and iced tea. and if you can sit and say after that, that inequality and racial injustice isnt a thing.. then you are apart of the problem.

The policing system is far too corrupt and desperately needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Police chiefs are now instructing officers to tape their badges and use tear gas, which, when untreated or incorrectly treated for, can have serious and dangerous effects on peoples health. And when a police officer publicly spoke out against this, he was forced to resign. With each passing day this country feels more like a dystopia, as the country i live in falls apart while all I'm able to do is spread the word and sign some petitions. At first i just felt scared to go to school because of the number of school shootings that happened last year, and now I'm afraid to step outside. But not because of some angry kid who got his hands on a gun. but because of the people who are supposed to make me feel safe. I may be white but i know that eventually my privilege wont keep me safe from the people who are meant to keep me safe. But we all know that i, a white 15 year old, can trust the color of my skin more than the people who are "trained to keep us safe". And that is whats terrifying. Because of the people being killed just for their color. The people who can't rely on the police. The people who don't have the privilege to feel safe in their own skin.

Many say racism has evolved and increased, but it hasn't. It has never been any secret that racism exists. Racism is not getting more common, racists are just speaking up more, and many are just now realizing this fact. The amount of hatred and injustice is ABSURD. I can't possibly seem to understand how several people feel THAT entitled and feel THAT superior to the extent that they feel it is okay and acceptable to not only advocate racism, but physically engage in it. It is extremely disappointing to see such arrogance around the world. We are all human, we all have flesh and blood. Judging somebody by their color is childish. Belittling those of color is childish. MURDERING someone simply because of their color of their skin is absolutely ridiculous, and I'm sick of not being able to live in a peaceful world, free of racism.

As a person of color, I have struggles with many things and racism is one of them. Growing up I had trouble fitting in with the right group and finding myself. Being a mixed race made it slightly difficult to stand on a side since we all are in conflict with one another. Seeing all the hate and racism is bringing me down and I feel like we should be past this. All the stereotypes and slurs that are commonly used to provoke others is out of hand. I, myself will admit that I do sometimes enjoy a joke here and there, and I get that im not perfect, but we learn from the mistakes we make and from the world's mistakes. People being mistreated and undermined in the past have had enough, only for the people on the other side to have power and riches while they leave us in the dirt. We are fed off of greed and jealousy and we need to grow up. The fear of someone because of their skin color is outrageous and cowardly. If we can treat everyone equally we wouldn't have to fear over others because there is love not hate. Everyone can and will have their own opinion but I stand with mine. We all deserve a chance sometime and judging others won't help. If you really want change, just please give us a chance at living, because taking away our lives doesn't help out.

-Nhi Hatsabout

It also makes me sick how the police handle this, harming innocent protesters and proving the points of all the protesters, working for such a corrupt justice system with no intent to improve it. And, people arguing against the riots and wanting to stay peaceful, they've protested peacefully for so long, being shunned for kneeling during the pledge, the country is built off riots and its terrible it has to result to this but no justice, no peace.

I feel utterly disgusted by what is currently going on in our society. Why do people of color have to fight, riot, and protest in order to be treated as humans? Why do we have to fight for basic human rights? Why do black people die every day to due police brutality simply for their features? It is heartbreaking to think that a black person could be going out for a run and may never make it back. America needs to change and it needs to change now, it's something that has been long overdue. The ignorance of some people who are getting 'offended' and saying, "why do only black lives matter? What about all lives?" is extremely annoying. Nobody is saying that ONLY black lives matter. Nobody would be saying "black lives matter" if black people got treated with respect. Nobody would be saying it if black people got treated as equals. Nobody would be saying "Black lives matter" if white supremacists stopped attacking innocent black people in the street. Nobody would be saying "Black lives matter" if police officers stopped killing and torturing black people because they might be "dangerous." Nobody would be saying "black lives matter" if black people got treated like humans. People are so quick to say, "All lives matter" but ignore the fact that black lives fall under "all lives." All lives can't matter until we accept that black lives matter. If you think that our system doesn't need to change then you are part of the problem. If you decide to stay neutral then you are already taking the side of the oppressor. How many more innocent black lives have to be taken before America decides it needs to change? How many more innocent black people have to die before the country wake up? As a person of color myself I stand in full support with my black brothers and sisters. The Black Lives Matter movement is not a cute and quirky trend for you to hop on. I ask that you educate yourself with ways you can help. Use your white privilege. Donate if you can. Watch the Youtube videos. Go to protests. Sign the petitions. A black square on social media is not going to change all the racial inequality. We need everyone to stand together and fight for what we believe in.

-lydia nava

Here's a small tip. Please don't say colored people. It's just a degrading term. Use people of color instead. Also, for anyone justifying their opinion by saying "I have Black friends" that is not a valid reason to believe in "All Lives Matter". You can still be racist and have black friends, be married to a black person, or have black children. Don't use your black friends to justify your racist beliefs. Leave them out of it.

As you flip it over, their are black colored cards that are exactly the same as the white colored colors. In appearance, they don't look like much to play with, but when you actually play with them by understanding the goal of the game, you can understand how fun both colored cards can be fun brought together. What i'm trying to say is that no matter how much different you are compared to everyone else, your still a human being that matters most of all because that's what we all have in common.

I know some people might say that George Floyd didn't die because of police brutality. Some might see the autopsy as evidence that he died of a heart condition. But I don't think that's what really happened. I think it was a cover-up because people don't want to see the ugly truth about police brutality, or how people of color in America are treated on a daily basis. It is completely unfair. We need to use our voices in whatever way possible to spread awareness to the problem, and to make a change. And we need to speak up for the people who might not be able to. It is sad to me that there are people in the world who believe that due to the color of their skin, they are superior to others. Or people who don't agree that everyone should be equal when we are all humans with beating hearts. Please consider your words and actions. Also, I would like to say for the people who don't understand the BLM movement. That movement wasn't made to belittle any other race. It was made to bring attention to black people and their struggles. Saying that all lives matter is true, but the movement itself is selfish and unnecessary.
-Abby Madsen

I am not a person of color, at all. I just think it is utterly disgusting what is going on in today's world. i have definitely looked very deep into this, even some historic matters of racism dating back to far long ago. It is SADDENING that people of color still go through it. Looking into George Floyd's racist incident, I have found out that it seems unfair that the cop was still even in the force. Many complaints were made on him before the incident and the fact he still was an officer is saddening. Pass that, it was also on the autopsy that he had died from failure of air transfer to his lungs. Meaning, the excuse of "heart attack" made by officers are irrelevant. George Floyd had begged he couldn't breath and that his body was hurting. Even having the knowledge he was going through a heart attack shows the exact reason why, again, what the officer did was utterly disgusting. We are taught that there are different races. There are many types of races, when in reality, that is wrong. We are a HUMAN race. Meaning we are ALL human, no matter the color of our skin. People need to speak up for those who can't. I have met many children with opinions on this who have got quieted because of their age. I have met many people who got quieted just because they didn't seemingly have the knowledge. How can you say All Lives Matter when Black lives are still being taken just because they have a different skin color? I can't stand for something when we are taught and told we are free and equal when so many lives are being lost because the color of their skin is very different.

I do agree with the fact that all lives don't matter until black lives do. I support the protests and appreciate the people that are using their voices. But once the protests start looting and rioting, it's not right. They're harming innocent people and ruining all their work they have put in. Also, just because you don't post something on your social media doesn't mean you aren't supporting what's happening in our society. A lot of people are supporting in silence. Either by donating, praying, etc... Society needs to learn how to love each other and accept them for who they are.

He/she is making us look bad." Anymore, If most of the people who disagreed with the looters were there in the protest they would probably loot too. Cops make themselves look bad by killing innocent people and don't get charged for murder so they still do it. What do you make off that? This is the world we live in. :(

This is something that should’ve been resolved so long ago but instead only became worse. I’m glad that there is being attention brought to this issue to such a large scale but it’s sad and unacceptable that it had to happen through the death of another innocent black person. Its also unacceptable that people have to protest for this because our government isn’t going to help change this issue but instead, they’d rather try and cover it up and let murderers get away with it and now let police hurt peaceful protesters instead of stepping up and fixing it. I don’t get how people can have so much hate towards someone they don’t even know just for their skin color.

There are so many things to say regarding the Black Lives Matter movement that has taken to platforms all over our country and even worldwide. It is impossible to go on social media today or go a day in the life without the topic being brought up. Our own community has done an amazing job of spreading awareness and encouraging everyone to become educated on the subject. It is amazing to see this kind of care and compassion, as well as anger coming from people I know who feel for the black community now more than ever. I admire them for speaking out. I know how scary it can be to have an opinion on the topic today. There are many things that you could say with good intentions that can be so easily misinterpreted or taken the wrong way. I'm sorry to see that so many of us are scared to speak out and have a voice for fear of feeling attacked after inadvertently saying the wrong thing, or maybe even the right thing stated in the wrong way. I am proud of those who spoke and continue to speak out, I see you too. I do hope that rather than accusing our peers for saying something controversial, we'll reason with them, and educate them on why we must be more careful for unconscious or inadvertent racism. There are some things we simply cannot say in 2020, even with good intentions. I feel for the black community today and find it extremely frustrating that after countless years with the struggle, it has not been resolved. Yes, all lives are valuable, but we cannot make this statement until all lives are RECOGNIZED to be equal. By the looks of where we stand today, we haven't achieved this yet. It is frustrating that it nearly feels like our progress is moving in the wrong direction over the years. Our leader figures in our country have failed us in the times we need them most. Following the issue of police brutality, I am conflicted on how I should feel about what the media is making of cops today. The statement ACAB, although claiming to not mean that all cops are bad, has a troubling message. I in no way support the brutality and racism which has occurred on many occasions. I do not defend the cops. I understand that for too long blacks have been regarded as thugs, hispanics as aliens, and asians have dealt with racism, especially now over the major pandemic that has taken over our lives. It only only seems so fair as to have the right to make this generalization that all cops are bad too. However, I am upset that people discourage from sharing the "propaganda" of cops who stood with the people in this movement because it is 'not real'. I agree, there is an issue with the system that must be urgently attended, but I don't think we should fix generalizations and oppression to black members by reversing the same card and oppressing cops with the generalization that they are all bastards. But though I could never understand the pain of the black community yesterday, today, and everyday, I understand their anger. What my community is for in times of hardship, I will choose to support as well. I understand that as our country has fallen under chaos during this movement it is hard to justify rioting and looting. I understand that it is upsetting and scary to see your city on fire and under destruction. Sadly, it must be true that some take advantage of this situation for the looting. But after seeing how easily these things will be replaced compared to the long struggle we will have to face to make things right, this is nothing. I have realized this. It is a horrible and unfortunate thing that we had to come to these measures to get the attention that was needed. But it worked. I only so hope that we are in fact one step closer in the fight. I stand with you.

This "incident" about Gorge Floyd is a reminder that the cops we rely on can still be corrupted. People of color have to be taught about how to act and what to say if they are ever questioned, what I hate most is how we see one another as a different race and not another man or woman. I hope one day we as a people will finally open our eyes and see past racism, I wish our media will show more than just the negative, that they show us how people are changing our society for the better not the worst.

I'm disappointed that racism is still an issue in today's society. It's sad that black people have to fight for something that should've been resolved years ago. Whys there so much hatred over the color of someones skin tone. I stand by the phrase "all lives don't matter until black lives do". I feel its so ignorant when someone says "all lives matter". No one said they don't. The black lives matter movement was meant to to bring light into the oppression they are still getting. So by saying "all lives matter" its silencing the message behind the black lives matter movement. For people staying silent during this time while they have black friends, listen to black artist, indulge in black media and culture, they're taking the side of the oppressor. It's ridiculous how people deny that white privilege exists. And its crazy how we cant even count on a justice system that was designed to protect us. Even when we PEACEFULLY protest those pigs still want to act out by throwing tear gas and shooting rubber bullets. I've seen videos of cops pulling off masks to pepper spray people, dumping out water bottles and milk, and pushing people while they're down on their knees silent. Now they got the military involved. On the other hand, I'm happy to see every race is out there supporting and help speaking out during the protests. And its wonderful to see other countries take part in this as well. I will never understand what its like but I will forever stand with them. I would take part in protests but I'm not allowed to. But I will still support by posting and signing petitions. I'd recommend for everyone to try and sign as many petitions as they can.

- paulina meas

I find the current protests to be perfectly fine and well within the rights accorded to them as citizens of the United States, however they are knowingly endangering the public at large by choosing to demonstrate at this time. I’m one of the few as far as I know to believe in the idea that the Constitution is a Social Contract of sorts, the social contract itself being a concept conceived by Rousseau. In this social contract, it’s the obligation of every citizen to assure the good welfare and health of the public, these demonstrations only make it for the second wave of COVID-19 to be far more dire than if social isolation was properly enforced. Furthermore, due to political agitation, these protests aren’t really protests at this point, moreso they are outright riots and bordering on the line of insurrection as outlined by 18 U.S. Code § 2383.Rebellion or insurrection. With that said this does not mean I am not in support of Black Lives Matter, but to push forward the idea that only Black Lives Matter and not All Lives Matter is a petty attempt at placing more focus out of selfish desire on one race. Do not confuse this with me denying the notion that Black Lives Matter, they do and forever will. George Floyd was murdered undoubtedly, the Officer deserves prison time and he represents a significantly small minority amongst the Department and Police in general. In communities such as this especially African-Americans form the bulk of Officers, so to push forward the idea that it is a racist institution is being not only foolish but ignorant of the reality of the matter. A better and more efficient vetting process must be adopted by Police departments, apprehension protocols must be improved, and overall a stronger sense of reform must be adopted by an overly bureaucratic government to ensure administrative efficiency.

With that said, Black Lives Matter alongside All Lives. Chauvin deserves what he gets and get's everything that's coming to him. Floyd was murdered and may he rest in peace. But maybe next time when planning a protest don't do it in the middle of a global pandemic, food for thought.

And for all the people posting black squares, instead of trying to be a righteous activist that only just before did nothing I suggest you donate.

-The Real Slim Shady

People love to mistake the Black Lives Matter movement too and try to protest against it by saying, "All Lives Matter" Everyone's life matters but right now POC are in danger currently and we need help, the movement never said "ONLY Black Lives Matter" Another thing that angers me is that the system has been flawed for a very long time and yet you have a huge amount of racist white people who turn a blind eye to it simply because they never had one bad experience with it because it was made for them, not for us. The higher powers of this country have been exposed for being racist themselves and it scares me a lot more for the future, how can others raise their kids in peace when they're born with a target on their head the moment they're out the womb?

Regardless of your skin color, race, religion, gender, etc. everyone deserves respect. It was about time we stood up for people like the black community or the Latin community. Like so many other communities that haven been discriminated or treated unfairly. Racism is as old as humankind. We can not go back to where there was a white side and a black side. Everyone is human and deserves to be treated as one. The poor kids who were put in cages by ICE deserve to be treated as human. They're not "aliens" they are just KIDS! The police deserve respect as well. But they can only get that if they give respect. I just wish this country could be less violent and wish racism would go away.

As a white person, I understand that I have a lot of privilege compared to others. I'm disappointed to admit, though, that I haven't been using it to the best of my ability. I haven't been realizing that my skin is something that I can use it to help fight, protect, and stand up for POC. This movement has brought that to my attention, and has taught me ways I can help my black friends who are going through this. I have been signing petitions, texting numbers, and donating money by watching videos online that donate money to the movement (since I don't have money to donate myself. You should do all of these too if you haven't already!). I have also began educating myself more and realizing that there is still so much I don't know about black and American history.
There are many things left I want to say, but I'll keep it short and say that moving forward, I will continue to educate myself and partake in the BLM movement until justice is served, no matter how long it takes. - Elina Plorinsh

We should not be here having to do this, that is the sad news about todays world all we do is listen to the media and all the 🤬. All black people should be able to walk outside feeling safe and not being scared for their life when they get stopped at a traffic light.

I am also tired of all the fighting going on, all of the opinions that people have going back and forth, it’s annoying to my ears for everyone to hear the “wrong side” bickering about what they believe, there is no wrong side, just everyone needs to believe that we can change the tide of racism so we can live peacefully. But we can’t change, just have to live with what we have right now.

I am so tired of America and I wouldn't care for the world if it did burn down for the life of me and yes that is how I am gonna start off! it is 2020 and not much has changed from last generations we are going backwards. This shouldn't be happening not today, not tomorrow, not any year from now on. Black people shouldn't have to protest for their lives because of their COLOR they shouldn't have to protest for any reasons. Their is a lot of hate more than there is love, like aren't people tired of judging, hating? Cause a lot of people know for a fact black people are exhausted from all of this. The saying of "All lives matter" if it was a person I sure would slap it in the face as much as I would slap anyone who says "all lives matter" except when it comes to a black lives. Yes everyone understands all lives matter nobody isn't saying that none do BUT that isn't the issue going on right.. let black people have their moment on why black people lives matters they are having more problems with their lives then any race right now. With the protest a lot of diversity is going on and I live for it and i'm loving it, people are standing together, fighting, supporting, and are trying to make a change. Now Trump the "president" he ain't no "president" to me he is a child who thinks this is a game he is straight up stupid "make america great again" WHERE? WHEN? I haven't seen him make any progress except him trying to tear this country apart this child so called "president" sits back and laughs as he watches what he mostly makes. this country is supposed to be free but it really doesn't seem so free with everything that is going down and on top of that it really feels like the world is ending with the virus and bugs and burning down cities and etc. I am so tired I sometimes wish I was never part of human. Stuff like this goes on and it isn't okay but sometimes it is gonna take lots of time to make a change and as long if there are gonna be tiny changes along the way i'm okay with that but only if they are good changes because all lives don't matter untill black lives do.

Saying "All lives matter" pushes the saying of "black lives matter" I understand that yes all lives matter but nobody has said "no lives don't" the horrible things that are happening to black people the most right now they are needing more help (not saying other races don't need help) other races do get problems but blacks are getting more attention with problems. look at it this way, if 5 kids were playing outside in a playground and one kid got hurt and cut his/her finger you're not gonna give all 5 kids band aids cause "all kids lives matter" you're gonna give your attentions to the kid who got hurt. just like the saying of " black lives matter" you gonna help that race out who is getting the bad tensions right now.

What is happening in our country today is not acceptable. I am so heartbroken because of every bad thing that is happening in our country right now, it hurts seeing many innocent people getting hurt or getting killed just because they are trying to get their voices heard and trying to fight for what they deserve which is freedom and no more racial discrimination. People of color and especially African Americans have been fighting for justice and freedom for decades. Why can't they just have the freedom they deserve? Why can't our society and our government could accept that black lives matter? I wish that we could change our society. I wish our government, our president could pay attention to what's happening right now. Lastly, I wish that the people of color's voices could finally be heard.!!

so to start off, this is america. The land of the stolen, the land of racism, the land of no equality, & the land of no freedom. When Donald Trump said to everyone with color including his main targets, black/African Americans, and Mexicans, i felt out ragged. Native Americans had this land way before Europeans. SO, why do we have to go back to our country´s when this land was stolen? when Europeans stole this land the blacks/African Americans built everything when they were slaves, & Mexicans kept the land beautifully when they worked in the fields. so why do we have to go if we build this country? If we aren´t the same color as the person who sees no color, are we outcasts, aliens, & monsters? do we need to match your skin color to be able to go on walks & runs without getting chased or shot? Do we need to match your skin color, to be able to stand on the side walk with a group of friends or alone without getting called gang members, & a suspicious on the phone? Do we need to match your skin color to be able to go to stores without being called robbers or thief´s? This is whats wrong with America & the governors, the police, and the president isn´t acknowledging it. I, as a Mexican, want change. blacks, African Americans, Asians, Muslims, Mexicans, & many more want change. We had enough of your racism America & we will fight for our rights, equality, freedom, & justice until you end your racism. But until then America, we will make Martin Luther King Jr´s dream come true & we will never give up on making it happen. Black lives matter & will always matter before any lives matter. they have been trying to get their equality and their rights for over 400 years but when Martin Luther King Jr. marched with his people to get their rights they got what they wanted. but now they have their rights, so why do racist people act like black people have no rights? one day i hope black people have the same equality & the same rights as everyone does. one day i hope we don´t see no racism and we see everybody like were all humans. one day i hope my kids in the future don´t ever have to see racism or experience it because of their skin color. i hope one day we make Martin Luther King Jr´s dream come true & make him proud. - Maria Villalobos. #blacklivesmatterbeforeanylivesmatter.

America was built for everyone to be equal, that everyone has the same rights but with the recent events, it doesn't seem like it. With the death of George Floyd by a police, is sparked a riot that swooped the whole America, not just for the Death of George Floyd, but fighting something that still roams around, which is racism. I see racism to be something that is wrong and shouldn't even exist after MLK but its still here so we have to stop it somehow and I think we are doing it. The only thing that I don't support what the riot is doing is the looting of small family businesses as those people only have one store and are probably financially poor and when they get raided, this just makes it harder for us and them. I believe that the way of MLK was the right way and Im following it to help out my friends of color.
-Vlad Sadovoy

Racism is something that a person cannot bear because when they listen to the criticism of others and also when they are not allowed to be themselves, the people who make fun of them treat them badly and all the time they bully them, it may make them bad in their Health One of the reasons why racism can affect your health is when you can no longer mock, you start to feel bad about your heart and all that. One other thing is that people that are not from America don't have the same rights so I think that everyone has the right to have an opportunity because that's why people come from other part of this world just to look for an opportunity that they don't have in their country and when they come here to the U.S.A they see that s the same things as in their country. So what I want to say here is to treat everyone the same don't judge them.

I think racism has been happening for such a long time, and what happened to George Floyd was just the tip of the iceberg. Their's so many black people who've died from police brutality that was never filmed or no one was there to stop it. Racism isn't something you're born with it's something that you learn or taught. The cops may think their doing their job but their job isn't to kill cause you think someone looks suspicious or kill because you think you saw a gun when really it's a cell phone, if cops first inciting is to kill when they see a person or their scared instead of finding other ways to de escalate why are they cops? Most of the protest that is being podcasted on the news isn't true, these protests aren't about looking and starting fires, It's about getting justice for those who can't get justice for themselves or those who aren't here to see justice. Maybe, the looting and rioting was too much but no one listened when they were peacefully protesting. But at the end of the day those cars and business can get rebuilt anytime but George Floyd, Brenna Taylor, Trayvon Martin and many more will never get to live again.
-Yasmin Osman

I couldn’t watch the whole video of George because it was too graphic. Every life matters but right now that is not happening, we’re seeing how the black community is being murdered by people who are supposed to protect us. Imagine being a black person, everyone is watching your everyday move and you have to be careful because one mistake & you're gone. It’s upsetting how America has brushed racism under the carpet & have normalized discrimination againts Asians, Middle Eastern, Latinx, & African-Americans, etc. We will no longer be quite about racism, it’s time to stay united & fight justice. #BLM

So first of all. NO LIVES MATTER UNTIL BLACK LIVES MATTER. And if you disagree, your part of the problem. Black people have dealt with a lot of racial issues and i hate that. I've seen videos where they're saying that their people are scared to even go outside and breathe because they might get accused of having a gun or they're about to rob a store. No one should be treated like this because of the color of their skin. Another thing is the fact that cops are abusing their power. I don't know what else to say. my mind is kinda blank because I came back from work but that doesn't matter. All i'm saying that there really needs to be change. It's 2020. Not the 1960s again. It's about time we stand up for whats right and speak out. Obviously I support BLM 100%, and I am happy that all of USA is protesting and other countries too. That goes to show that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and people are tired of seeing black people dealing with racism. Things need to change. Also Trump needs to be canceled. Ok Im done.

I feel like racism is something that will take a while to get rid of, I hate that people think that just because your a different color, you deserve to be treated different. There have been times when peaceful protesting hasn't worked and people have been pushed around. I fully support the protest and parts of the riots because racism is a massive problem in the U.S. and needs to be dealt with. This has been happening for centuries and even though people say it's bad, they still participate in it. Many black people have been killed for no reason. There is George Floyd who was suffocated to death because the cops "thought" he spent a fake $20 bill. I hate the fact that people of color have to deal with all of this and that they are treated differently just because of the pigment of their skin. We are all human no matter the color of your skin and if you think otherwise, you should be ashamed of yourself. People should not be treated this way. It's inhumane and is destroying the very meaning of what it means to be equal.

Sincerely, someone who hopes that racism will end, Aydan Shirk

When we finally think people get where were coming from and understand our pain and our struggles, another precious life is taken from us. One of our brothers or sisters taken because of the color of there skin. skin pigment is something no one can change, nor should ever feel the need to change. George Floyd was taken from us not because he committed a crime but because of the way an individual looked at us. His life was taken because of the prime fact he was black, and no one can convince me otherwise. I think that these riots, this looting that has been going on in the world inst a cry for help, but its people getting justice. But it’s hard to change old ways I guess, but it feels like it shouldn’t be that hard. I just don’t get why it matters in the first place, I feel like It’s not that hard to not be racist. Like in history I don’t think anyone ever did anything to the white people to make them so angry. But then everyone else just kinda followed what the first people did and no one thought to question it. Which is what I find weird. Just in general it’s a strange idea, the idea of owning another human is weird and the idea that because of your skin your better is weird. If I had to put it all in one word it would be weird. The racism going on right now for what happened to George is not what should be going on. If you think about it, people were fighting and protesting against the police of michigan. Destroying their police cars and their department. But is that what we should be doing? I see this as a really stupid thing what people are doing right now because as it started compared to right now we have made no diffrence but instead putting more wood to the fire. Like I said people were protesting against the police and still are but how? By destroying their cars and more but let's be honest there are police that are really nice and some that are not and racist. Police officers are a job and most of those officers I would say have family and what we are doing is making their lives harder by being in the streets and taking either verbal or physical pain and making their family going through suffer by making them be worried either not seeing their husband or father at the end of the day. And yes there is the other side of the problem right now which is the racist people being more open about their way of thinking and taking advantage of this. Theyre here calling us insultes such as “ immigrants and niggers.” That's not right… America was made by Native Americans and then they got wiped out like if they were some piece of garbage and then african Americans were brought here from Africa as slaves like if they were some objects and made them do stuff without their will. And are we being rude? And what makes me even more mad is the looting. In my opinion I see no advantage for our future by doing this but instead messing it up more because so far theyre have been alot of cities looted and alot of people dont agree with the looting as well. According to fox news 76% of people disapprove of looting but there is also the 16% of people that do approve it. This to me just shows theyre is alot of people in the world that will take advantage or benefit from any bad thing of the world in their way. In overall what I think should be done is stop the looting because for two reasons. Its non beneficial for the society in any way and it will cause coronavirus infected people go drastically up and it's gonna be million and millios of money the government will have to spend to fix the damage to public places that have been damaged and that can lead up to less money going to the cure of the virus right now for the patients. The other thing I think should be done is instead of going towards the police in all the cities and doing all this stuff. We should actually focus on the leaders of the police and the government in general. If you have a plant that is poisonous and a plant has leaves that are not poiceness but the stem or root is what are going to do to get rid of it? Destroy the leaves or the stem?. What we are doing is dismantling the police in this example the leaves and not the government which is the stem or root. The police are just the people that work for the government to keep the cities safe and yes what the officer did to George was the opposite and that officer should get punished for his actions but not the whole city. And the last thing I think should be fixed is the president. This is my opinion but he is just not the guy that is respectful or responsible to do this kind of job. He is rude and doesnt know anything about politics. All he does is yabble and yabble about stuff he has no idea and making us have the consequences. Like that should not be the way it should be. I remember I didnt know a single thing about the government until Trump was elected. I live in a Mexican household so the news is constantly on and I would rarely hear stuff going on with the government when Obama was president. Now that Trump is president we needed to turn off the news because we couldnt understand how people wanted this clown as a president and not getting a single thing he would say. Now even my younger sister who is in elementary school now enen knows how the government works. At that age I was playing call of duty on my xbox 360. I just think this world is in a bad position but as my mom has tought me theyre is always gonna be faith in the darkest of times. And sure do I do and I pray that the world can have faith as well.

I'm disappointed. I'm frustrated. I'm angry. Words cannot explain how messed up the world is right now. Segregation ended in 1964, yet there's still an undeniable hatred felt towards people of color (or anyone oppressed for that matter). I have been trying to learn and inform myself on these issues so that I'm able to help. Whilst doing research, I came across the quote," no lives matter until black lives matter." This quote resonated with me because of how true it is. When people of color stop being profiled and discriminated against, we as a society will finally be able to embrace others as they are. To be more inclusive. How will we ever progress as a society if we cannot accept our fellow citizens. I know my place. I know where I stand and what I need to defend. I will be an ally and a support system to those who are feeling truly oppressed in these current circumstances. I just hope the next generation is able to make the change that is necessary to better our community, and hopefully to better our country.

#BLACKLIVESMATTER I was very disappointed that in the world we live because someone can just be killed by police because they are. A black man or teenager in America and that needs to stop. We need to start to have reform for all police departments so that all cops can be taught that kneeling on . Someone's neck should not be allowed. It's sad that you need to even tell another human that it is not OK to kneel on someone's neck . For 9 minutes someone in 2020 that kneeling on some neck is bad and also . Some of these cop need to stop racial profiling people just because the color of there skin that need to change . In 2020 also someone's skin color should not mean they are a threat to people it's just sad how people could think like that. Also we also need to teach police to not shoot first but to just taser so that no one could die from police any more . In America also we need to stop having a race war in this country we all need to come together and we need to be everybody against . Racist people in America, not black vs white and Hispanics people like the media want us to be, we need to come together and fight . As a whole to end racism in the USA and we need to make it so that George Floyd murder will . Be the last murder to ever happen by a police officer in the USA .I dont want to be a old man with my grand-kids and they are telling me that another black man was killed by police for no reason . Other than the color of his skin in 2020 we need to end racism in america . If this event is not a wake up call for american then I don't know what is #justice for George Floyd rip fly high George Floyd.

Right now, the main focus is racism against black people and African-Americans. There are certain things I don't want to say on social media because people might not take it the right way or might not like how it sounds so I'll say it here instead. People keep saying "black lives matter" and "all lives matter", but this is unfortunately false. All lives don't matter because black lives don't matter. That's just the truth, black lives SHOULD matter, but they don't, and they haven't for the longest time (or at least not to most people). As long as there are people out there that don't care for black lives, they will never truly matter. We need to change this soon because who knows how much worse this can get. No, black lives don't matter right now, so let's ALL change that. Anyone's life in my opinion should matter just as much as any other person's. Let's make black lives matter again, so we can be at a point where we can say that Black Lives Matter.

What the police man did to George Floyd is unforgivable, and the Fact that our government was probably just gonna stay quit because it was a white police man and a black guy being the victim if we didn't raise our voice makes me think this world is messed up. lets not forget what our president called black people who were fighting for justice instead of acting like a leader he decided to insult them by calling them "thugs" and said to shoot if they continued the looting. Is this what he meant by " make america great again" . #justiceforfloyd

It feels like so many of the people in places of authority over us shouldn't have that authority. They aren't making good decisions, and are causing anguish because of their actions towards other human beings. It seems like they are making our cities and streets less safe than if they weren't there, at least in the case of the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone. The police and the president try to defend their belief of the stereotypes against people of color, and we can't have that kind of bias controlling who lives and who dies, and how harshly someone gets punished. If judges aren't allowed to hold biases, then neither should our voters, our president, or our police. Our decisions need to be made logically, not because we don't like something. We need to be voting for the people that will make choices to help everyone, not only some. We need to hire people who will do what's right for everyone, not just themselves.

This has been a huge problem in our society causing people to die or serve life sentence for simply shoplifting or being suspected of paying with a false bill. George Floyd, an innocent black man, was killed mercilessly by a white cop who knew what he was doing but didn't care. This was the last straw for people who support the Black Lives Matter Movement which shouldn't be a trend that just dies in a few months because all lives matter can't be true until black lives matter. I am a black person myself and I do not support the destruction of small businesses but the I do believe that the big businesses which the government depends on should be destroyed to send the message that this is the last generation that will tolerate any oppression.- Yonatan

The protests that are happening around the nation are marking that the black community are reaching out they want this ongoing oppression to stop and all their voices are echoing throughout the nation which IS leaving a mark. The part that saddens me is that some choose to use the BLM movement to cause harm instead of spreading a positive message. Some use the death of George Floyd as an excuse to loot and for personal gain only which makes the BLM protests less impactful on the nation. This whole entire looting and destroying businesses to prove a point really leaves a bad taste in my mouth but other than that, the peaceful protests are leaving a positive message.

thru-out all of this i have felt mostly sadness and frustration. my sadness comes from the fact that racism is still every where from school books to the system of people who are suppose to be protecting us. and my frustration comes from the way some people use such important things to speak out about to rob and hurt other people. BLM is suppose to bring people together to change the way that our country works so that it is great for everyone not just certain people. i hope that the peaceful protests continue until every single person in not only the US but in the world is equal no matter their racial or cultural background. -isaiah

You hear the chants in the streets yelling "Black lives matter". There's at least one person saying "but all lives matter??" . We aren't saying only black lives matter, we are speaking up to how differently blacks are being treated, NO ONE should be treated the way they are being treated so we should speak up and end racism once in for all.

These days, I worry a lot.
I look at the world, and often get angry.
At night, I rest but I remember the images of a troubled world.
I fall asleep, and I dream.
I dream of a better world:
A world that stops hurrying,
A world that stops getting angry,
A world that stops arguing,
A changing world.
My dreams continue, and in these dreams:
My family gets along well,
Young people are no longer worried about tomorrow and today, and no longer have to take care of their parents, and their siblings,
and their own all at the same time.
In these dreams:
My community sits together at the same table.
We realize that our differences make the world more diverse, not more at odds.
We remember that all humans deserve a good life and justice.
We wake up.
I want my dreams to come true.
I don't want to be wrong by being really optimistic.
I still want to relax,
And look at this better world:
This world that cares about having an open mind,
This world that takes care of all humans.

I think we should all have peace with one another, and not blame every cop for the actions of some other cops. To me, i believe we just need continues prayer to God to help resolve this issue, and make a country a better place to live in.
