  South Africa at the western end faces the Atlantic Ocean to the east overlooking the Indian Ocean.
• The longest river is the Orange, which runs through 1860 and ends in the Atlantic Ocean;
• The deserts are those of Kalahari, Karoo and Richtersveld
• South Africa is a repubblic.

They speak English,Africaans and many different languages. At different times in its history, South Africa has been both a Dutch and a British colony. When it was a part of British empire, was governed by white popolation. This system continued after the country became indipendent from Britain in 1944. The white popolation were richer and had better jobs than black popolation. In 1948, the governement issued laws separating white people and black people. It was called APARTHEID.
