1. You may find it helpful to color code your note cards with your source cards. For example, source 1 is pink, so any note cards that come from that source should be pink.

2. It will save you time later to label your note cards in MLA format. Both examples put the author's last name and page number in parenthesis at the end. This is a good habit to get into.

3. You can drag note cards from one column to another if you decide the information is a better fit somewhere else.

Your goal is to have 6-7 pieces of information for each part of the outline, which is about 25-30 note cards total. You may find that one section has 10 note cards whereas another has only 4. Your topic will determine where you focus your attention. You may not use every note card once you get to the writing stage, but it is always better to have more than less.

For each section of the outline, you should have no more than two quotes. The research paper should rely much more on paraphrasing than quoting. See the handout for information on when to use quotes, paraphrasing, and summarizing.

The disease is spread by a bite of an infected female mosquito a Anopheles. It is estimated that 500 million people are infected with malaria and 1 million to 3 million people die from malaria every year. Due to this it can cause countries to be less efficient in economic and social development because of the amount of people getting sick. The four types of malaria you can get each from a different kind of Plasmodium. P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale, P. malariae (Vinetz 1).

You can use long sleeves and insect repellent spray probably the best way. Or use chemicals and put it where the mosquitoes breed, and you can use what is called fogging. But scientist/biologist have found a different way by having males that are sterile males that have a gene that will cause the offspring to die. This is working and has decreased the mosquitoes population. (Parry 05:17- 09:53
