First Amendment

“Prohibits any law “respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;” protects freedom of speech and press; guarantees right to “peaceably assemble” and to “petition the Government for redress of grievances.”

Amendment I is one of the most important amendments of The Bill of Rights because it guarantees and protects the rights of each person’s religious beliefs. People can’t be persecuted and can express their faith freely. Freedom of speech gives people the right to stand up for what they believe in. This Amendment also permits people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government without the fear of punishment. After all, that’s why people move to the United States, so they can feel liberated from their own government.

Second Amendment

“Protects “right of the people to keep and bear arms.”

Amendment 2 is also a very important because it gives people a sense of safety to carry their arms openly in case of an emergency. It also keeps the government from imposing tyranny. This amendment gives you the right to protect yourself, protect your family, and protect you from the government. It gives us the right to bear arms and now and days we need protection in our house holds because there’s a lot of robberies happening.

Constitutional Reform

In the CQ article Winn gives this statement “By giving the votes of younger voters greater weight than those of their older counterparts, the membership of the executive and legislative branches can be structured to look out for the long-term health of the country rather than for the short-term benefits of older voters at the cost of the long-term health of the country and the future earnings of younger voters.” I believe that this person is trying to say that the younger generations should have a greater voice than those who are older. Simply because it is the future of the young ones being affected and this is going to depict what happens to their lives later on. For instance, if you give an older person the right to cast their vote perhaps in two years something terribly could happen. Maybe they even voted for the wrong party and now their decision has affected others.

Steve Robertson said “ In a global economy, the idea that we should have representatives of New York or Wyoming, as opposed to representatives of union workers, gays or cat fanciers seems completely arbitrary. At least one house of the legislature should be composed of anyone who can collect enough online votes.” This proposal is talking about how we should encourage people to vote by having people that are similar to them and those who they can find relatable. Instead of casting some fear on them by having people who give off the idea of being superior to them.
