on going to the CVP open session i was able to see equipement used in the indusrty. As an editing student i was thiking about what i heard already knew about these cameras in a way which relates to my specalism like how the footage actually come to me (the editor) in black and white while when your looking throught the camera your seeing the true image.

The session was also intresting to me as someone who has a genreral intrest in the other parts in film/tv production as seeing these big cameras with so many part to it makes me sure that im more suited to an editing role. However this session was defienlty aimed more at the production stage of the indusrty as while its intresting to know the diffrent equipmnent its focus doesnt relate straight to editing.

This session was particulaly helpful as chris was talking through what ProAV provide but also gave some useful information about when being part of a team its good to know about other areas and being aware of other specialites.

I feel this would be helpfull for me to develop as a better editor as its always good to get an understadning why certain choices will have been made. However also felt this would be more helpful in terms of if i was working in other section in the industry (like using the cameras) that actually get to use the eqipment talked about. As while it is good to know about what others are using i think as an editor you work is more removed from the rest of the film/tv making process as the camera work has been done and the director already knows whats way they are going.

This was a talk by two reaserchers in the deloitte digital team. They talked about what delittote digital do as a company and about how it just one part of the biger brand of deloitte. They also went into a little more detail on how they collect data for compines etc that come to them as they showed us work they did with coventy university.

This session wasn't that usefull when it comes to the area of film/tv and editing as it was more geared to people who would like to go into research or even the part where they talked about the wider deloitte digtal working group it was obviouslty more geared to people working in design or busissnes things.
However the talk about how and what they do when collecting resarech i felt could be applied to my work for the rest of uni espcially when looking at doing disertation and other writing/essay as resarch and refrencing is such and imprtant section when writing an essay and find evidence to back up your arguemnts.

As someone else who loves watching film and is inspired by others work it great to see that others do this and that it can actualy be a great help to spark ideas.

This talk was moderated by callum Just and with Henry Gill and Adam Singodia who both work using film as a main form on music videos and ads. The Main focus on this talk was about why and how you might use film as a format rather ran digital.

It was helpful to hear about why they use film (mainly for asethic reasons) and how much they love working with this format and espcially as more people are trying film and even when shooting on digtial when they go into colourgrade/edit recently people want a film look.

As someone with an intrest in the film format it was nice to hear how the intrest is growing and making film more main stream and giving more options on how to get film. When relating to what sort of work in the future i would be doing it was good to hear about the sort of workfollow Adam and Henry go throught from starting on how they introduce others to used film. It was also intresting to hear about how they had progress in the industry and was good for me to see where best to start out as they both got in through working on music videos and now how to progress to making their own films.

After the talk we even aproched Henry as he was a former student at Ravensbourne and asked more about his personal experince going from ravensbourne to working. which he suggested to get right into work experience as he was working pretty much full time while doing uni so he was building contacts and experiencs while in uni.

Turning Red talk with the director Domee Shi and Producer Lindsay Collins

This was a great talk from the director and producer of pixars new film Turning Red (releasing 11 march 2022) The first 30 minutes of the talk was a presentaion given by Domee Shi and Lindsay Collins. With them talking about there indvidual work as Domee did pixar short bao and from that wanted to do another film but focusing on a mother/daughter relationship and Lindsay talked breifly about her past work at pixar and about how she came to be intrested in Domee's idea.

In the presention they went throught the whole process of bringing Turning Red to the screen from Domees first ideas and story boards to how they chose the cast and how they worked with covid.

In the second half of they were asked more in depth questions about what it was like working on the film. And a chance at the end for a Q&A from the audince.

This was very good session and would be helpful to apply to what a job in the film idustry could be like in the future. As Disney/Pixar are such a big company it was great to here the whole process of making a film, even though animantion is not the specialty im heading in it good to hear about genral experience in such an importan comapny that hold a lot of power in the film/tv industry. It was also great to here how colabrative pixar are as a comapny as domee and lindsay did talk about how when they came to the editing stage of Turning Red how important it was listing to their editior in what was truely need for there film.
