Doris Day founded the DDAF (Doris Day Animal Foundation) To find medical care and homes for unwanted pets. Doris Day first got involved when she was producing films and would refuse to work until every animal around the set was fed and taken care of. She wanted to change the way animals were treated and she did. She is also co-founder of Actors and Others for Animals in 1971. Doris supports pet food pantries, veterinary care, animal non-profit groups, she contributes in world spay day, a scholarship can be given at UC Davis for vet students, and she funds a horse rescue and adoption farm. Without her many animals would not have found there forever homes, many would be starving with no shelter. Since i am an equestrian i am thankful for what Doris Day did to save the lives of many horses as i believe slaughter houses should be shut down.
