For essay 2 - the guidelines suggested to choose what parts of the lecture content we thought would be relevant but that we don't need to discuss everything - but several of us got points deducted for not including everything. What did you want us to include? What topics and how would that have changed the outcome for the Heroes?

I was excited about peer-learning through discussion but I grew tired of it when not everyone participated (in-class or online by keeping mics off) and then I didn’t learn more than I already knew. Wondering if it's a rapport/trust issue?
An idea: be allocated to 1 group for the whole semester to facilitate critical / deeper topic discussions. Maybe some graded group work to incentivise participation/preparation too (e.g., a small presentation prepared before each workshop which would then be discussed in class?).

I found essays 1&2 difficult to get a handle on because the questions were vague but the requirements were very specific (as seen post-marking). And I was not clear on what the specific requirements/expectations were (I can relate to the other post here about essay 2). I started to feel demotivated and anxious as I wasn't sure how to do well/better.

I’d also appreciate *overall* feedback on the essays to get an understanding of where I was sitting and how I could improve for next time (not only the 2-3 in-text ‘highlight/lowlight’ comments).

Some other resources (written/video/audio) would have been helpful for the theories - to hear/read about them from another perspective. Was difficult to find resources on some topics.

I think it's a fascinating area of study and widely applicable. I enjoyed learning about what drives collective action (norm and non-norm/terrorism) - especially the role of collective anger vs. contempt - as well as retributive vs. restorative justice. I would have liked to have more opportunities to apply these theories to real-life global/ regional/ community/ interpersonal events and conflicts both to practice applying the theories and to gain a different/better understanding. (I also understand the topic is hugely broad and there's limited time!).

Considering you are seeking a 'demonstration of excellence at the third year level' for the essays and a majority of the class seemed to have performed poorly on the essays, an example of what is considered 'excellence at a third year level' would be greatly beneficial. I am curious to hear if any person achieved an HD for the essays and if they did, what exactly they did to achieve this.
Additionally, the feedback provided did not detail where the additional marks could have been gained, but more reflected minor errors, which do not seem to equate to the 'lost marks'/'marks not achieved'. I think providing more feedback and detailing what exact number they achieved in the rubric (rather than highlighting the section), may allow for improvement across the essays and boost morale.
