Lesson 1: The Forming of the Group

Once receiving the groups, we were tasked with deciding on a topic for the performance. We created a mind map with all of the different ideas we had but none of them stood out. Then we remembered that there was an Instagram account that had gone around school posting gossip and we decided to base our performance on the dangers of social media in a school environment. After the topic was decided we immediately came to the conclusion that the target audience would be the MP4's as they are slightly younger than our selves and are very prone to continuing internet challenges and doing silly things even taking it too far sometimes.

Lesson 2: The beginning of the End

Today was the lesson that we really got started with creating the performance. We came to realize that we didn't really have a performance mapped out with a story at all so we wanted to start with a clear ending that we could work towards. This is why we planned the end scene first. Not only does starting with the ending give clear direction for our planning, but it also creates suspense and mystery and will draw the viewers in and want to find out how the play is resolved. After presenting our scene to the class we received plenty of positive feedback that agreed with our idea of creating tension.

When arriving back to class after a long holiday, the performance wasn't necessarily the first thing on our minds during the break. On top of that one of the main roles in the performance was absent so we had to improvise. I took the role of Joseph for this class as I hadn't received my own role yet. In this class we figured out the second scene (First chronologically) in which all of the characters are in class. The opening class scene is mainly to introduce the characters and a short intro into who the characters are (I.e. Brailyn's character is really snobby and this can be scene by the way she interacts with the teacher). We then also started planning out the next step in the performance (The relationship between Joseph and Brailyn's character

Today we had not one, but two people absent making it a lot more difficult to progress with the story. With me already filling in for someone else's role, we decided to Simpy work on what we already had planned and work on making the transitions as smooth as possible. We did notice that we will be needing some assistance with the boards and the transitions. More scene ideas were discussed focusing on the development of the relationship between Joseph and Bridgett (Brailyn's character) and also how to make it clear that in the end scene (First scene shown) that we are not all together when we receive the texts. A lot of ideas were thrown around but we decided to decide when the entire group is present.

Now that we had everybdy back we started brainstorming again about how to recap the message of the play, just to keep it clear and understandable.

Artistic intention - You must connect it to the unit as a whole and reference some if the techniques you plan on using to achieve your goal.
Lesson 1 - where is your mind map? You should include it in your process journal. Also, be a little more specific on how you came to your final idea.
Lesson 2 - You need more detail on why is was important to work on the resolution before the rest of the scenes. You must show the exploration of ideas and how they developed. What was the feedback received and how did you plan to use it - all this information is needed.
Lesson 3 - You must give more information on the story and so this in turn will then explain the characters etc.
Lesson 4 - You must explain how you developed it and what techniques you have applied and why. You must connect this information to your artistic intention.
Travis, you are missing details that allow you to meet the criteria. Please read the criteria to ensure you know what is needed.
