I knew that there were computer science standards, but I have never taken the time to incorporate them into our curriculum map. I think this is something that I definitely need to do to ensure that I am thoughtfully engaging students in computer skills.

K-2.PA.1 Use technology and developmentally appropriate multimedia resources to conduct age- appropriate research and support learning across the curriculum.

We are using technology to research nonfiction topics in the classroom. My students love using the Scholastic Weekly Reader online resources. Research is done by listening to the online reader. They can click on icons to watch informational videos to learn more. Their learning is reinforced by playing a game at the end. It is a great learning tool!

I love that teachers can tag one another or quickly share ideas. I would also like to use Pinterest to share ideas for parents to use at home with their children.

Symbaloo would help my students easily access websites on the netbooks. Simple icons would be much easier for my kindergarteners to navigate. I can also color code websites based on content. This would make it easy to distinguish between math and literacy choices. This would be an overall timesaver!

I have had an Osmo since it originally came out. iIam really wanting to purchase the new additions they have created. There is a new coding game that I know would be a hit!

When browsing the Indiana eLearning Twitter page, I found that they advertised several professional development opportunities. I also enjoyed seeing ideas from other educators. This made me realize that twitter would be an easy way to share updates from my classroom! One teacher posted stories that her kindergarten students were recording. Students would be ecstatic to get feedback from followers by sharing pictures and links of their work!
