Reviews your knowledge from ‘Management Accounting’ (MGT6152) in the first semester that contributes to Corporate Performance Management in the second semester.

To avoid unnecessary repetition (and boredom), I will adapt what I teach to address those topics that you didn’t fully understand. Not all the MGT6152 syllabus topics (shown below) are relevant to this module. I have highlighted those that are in yellow and those of partial or indirect relevance in grey – you can ignore the Balanced Scorecard as Juliana is devoting a lecture in the MGT6095 to it.

I want you to post any individual slides from MGT6152 lectures, notes from the tutorials, or aspects from your own readings that you want me to explain on the ‘padlet’ forum on the MGT6095 MOLE site by next Wednesday. I will then develop a lecture for Thursday based on your input and post any slides on Week #2 of the MOLE site on Thursday itself.

I look forward to working with you

Barry

MGT 6152 syllabus

    Cost classification and overheads absorption

Activity based costing and activity based management

Marginal costing, breakeven analysis and special decisions

    Budgets and budgets preparation

    Budgetary control and variance analysis

    Investment appraisal

The roles of accounting; Management accounting (MA) in service organisations

    Balanced scorecard; Target costing

    Theories in management accounting

    Just in time; Throughput accounting
