Why is the most basic human function a crime? A human averages about 60,000 thoughts a day. Now imagine being told that thinking was illegal and if you do think for yourself and keep something to yourself you are eligible for jail time.

Real World: Innate Humannes

Slavery is one of the most common examples of innate humannes. People being discriminated and treated differently because the color of their skin. Not being given the same rights as other humans, and this has been happening for over 400 years.

Language isn't taught the same anymore. In the novel feed the normal english language is being taught in college, Violet's dad teaches this course and its called "Fortran and Basics." Where you learn poetry and how we as a society now talk and speak to each other.

1984: Newspeak

Newspeak is the language they use in Oceana where it makes everything less expressive and easier to control. For instance, they took curse words out of their language entirely so that growing up children won't even know how to express themselves when their angry or feeling some sort of emotion.

Real world: Suppressing human rights

The civil rights movement was a period in the world where african americans were fighting for equal rights and an end to racial segregation. Most say that this movement was started when NAACP activist rosa parks was told to give up her seat just because a white man needed it.

My overall review of this book is how it showcases the world and its transitions in technology. Technology is an everyday part of our lives so when they show it as literally apart of YOU is a different look at things. I also find the concept of dreams being seen as ads in the future is an interesting factor and although some parts of the book are supposed to be fictional I can probably see being real-life problems in the future.

I have made a lot of connections with this book and real life. My main take-away though is that as the world is progressively adapting to technology its making humans less intelligent. With AI in the works of being an everyday process, I think in the future we as a society should be more careful with how we use the upcoming concepts of technology and what we should use it for, Because the things that we think are conveniences can also be Silent Killers.
