Tragedy of the Commons refers to the long-term loss of other people living in the world due to a small part or individual short-term benefits. We can regulate ourselves and everyone by enacting laws, because individuals will occupy more resources because they are worried that others will take up more benefits and fear that they will suffer.

The tragedy of the Commons is that when many people share a limited resource, individuals tend to blindly pursue short-term self-interest, which leads to the scarcity of public resources, such as overbreeding, overgrazing, overpopulation and other social and environmental problems.
Humanity is actively addressing this problem by making agreements, choosing parties, and so on.

The video introduces the tragedy of the commons that occurs when individuals seek short-term gain and has a bad effect on the collective, such as overpopulation causing congestion on the living places and clean air being polluted by emissions. But at the same time, humans reduce this impact by means of social contracts, communal agreements, political parties, laws, etc. People need to realise that what is good for everyone is good for everyone.

The tragedy of public commons refers to the result that in order to maximize the short-term interests of individuals, the output of public resources is much smaller than the consumption, which ultimately leads to the exhaustion of public resources. Public commons not only refer to natural resources, but also involve many non-natural resources such as space. In order to prevent everyone from eventually running out of resources, it is important to establish an agreement to achieve the goal of sustainable development.

The tragedy of the commons is when individuals neglect the well-being of society in the pursuit of personal gain. This leads to over-consumption and ultimately depletion of the common resource, to everybody's detriment.
Overuse of public pool resources can occur as people act in their own self-interest without regard to the impact on the rest of the community. As human beings we can prevent public tragedies by making laws and systems of punishment.

The video describes the concept of tragedy of commons which arises when many people share a common resource (e.g air, living areas). The tragedy of commons can briefly be described as optimising for one's short-term interests primarily is not sustainable when one is part of a collective.
The phenomenon typically starts with an individual, or group of individuals, putting their short-term self-interest above the common good.

This video explains what the tragedy of the Commons is. The tragedy of the Commons is that when people share limited resources, individuals will make decisions to pursue short-term interests, which will infringe public interests and bring long-term negative effects on public resources. People need to understand that when there is a collective benefit, there is also a personal benefit. We need to protect our common interests from being infringed through government monitoring and laws and regulations.

The video illustrates the tragedy of the Commons by using fish ponds and fishermen fishing. This is a term used to describe the plight of many people sharing a limited resource, that is, because people seek short-term additional benefits, the costs of which will be shared by the groups using the resource.

"Common tragedy" is a phenomenon where people tend to ignore the long-term interests of the group for their own immediate gain. And It was first proposed in 1833 by William Forster, an economist.

In the video, it cites the "fish pond" as an example. In an environment with limited resources, multiple individuals often act against their common interests, leading to bad outcomes. On a macro level, these problems are reflected in overgrazing, overfishing, overpopulation, pollution and other environmental problems. For example, the abuse of antibiotics brings short-term benefits and long-term harm, and the short-term low cost and long-term environmental cost of coal-fired power generation.

At present, the main ways to solve this phenomenon are to pass laws, elect governments, sign contracts, sign common agreements, restrain individual impulses and strengthen collective consciousness. This method is not easy to implement, but it works.
