I would define closeness as the chemistry or blending of two musicians. When I think of closeness as described by Ratliff, I imagine two musicians or two musical sounds playing together and being played so closely that they are in a way cohesive. As I dove into this chapter I found myself agreeing with Ratliff, when two musicians are playing together it in turn makes the end result complete and perfect. One of the examples from Ratliff's playlist is Pere Ubu, the way the musicians play so closely and blend so well is magnificent. An example of closeness I have is Do You Hear What I Hear- Harry Simeone Chorale in which the choir sound so close that you truly can't tell the difference between singers, excluding the women singing with the men based on voice, the tones and notes are all met collectively.
