         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ratliff gives us an interesting and very well written out chapter. Linking and Exclusivity are two very important elements that I hadn't really taken to mind until reading the chapter. To Ratliff Linking is the ability to 'link' the music together almost like telling a story and allowing it to piece itself to where it's a good one. As for Exclusivity, Ratliff notices that people tend to 'exclusively' choose a type in which a certain song is performed. This exclusivity can be artist, culture octave, style, etc.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I completely agree with both statements that Ratliff puts out in the chapter. Music is like a story that people want to hear. But the necessary building blocks need to be there so that the story is executed flawlessly. Well flawlessly to some and to others they beg to differ. That's where exclusivity comes in. There are times when I like to listen to a certain song over another and vice versa, or even a song with a different artist performing it. Never before have I noticed that I have been using both so blindly. Thanks to this chapter I've been able to realize this. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Ratliff Example</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In Chapter 18 Ratliff uses the song "Spiritual" by Donald Lawrence. I see that linking that he describes in the chapter. It seems that the majority of the song comes from the choir. They repeat the word spiritual but it doesn't sound repetitive.&nbsp;I'm not bored in the slightest and it helps build up, when the song gets louder and louder. It gives off that story telling of someone trying to be better when they are so low. The fact that gospel singers are involved gives off that feeling of wanting to better one self. </div>]]></description>

         <title>My Example</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My example has no lyrics, and is from a movie. A piece that Joe Hisaishi wrote for the movie Howl's Moving Castle, called "The Merry Go Round of Life." This piece of art builds off of one another and like the Ratliff example, shows moments of repetition that builds rather than repeats. An exclusive piece that I can not listen to in any other way. This song gives me that story of having peace and adventure waiting for me in the future of life. Truly a beautiful peace that I will listen to and try to learn how to play in my spare time. </div>]]></description>
