Although he was not the best judge of character, he displayed vivid and realistic emotions from the beginning of the tale Wonder to the end that I could somewhat relate to and feel sympathetic for. At the beginning, Amos cruelly boycotted and disregarded August for what he looked like, and joined sides with Julian in the 'war'. He was a disgusting and pathetic underdog who did morally incorrect things for his popularity among his peers. However, as the story progressed on, he realised his mistakes, learned from them, and befriended August by defending him and Jack when they were getting bullied. The things that Amos did in the past were inexcusable, but the most important thing was that he learned from them instead of setting aside his conscience and choosing to do contemptible things blindly. I admire him for his bravery to not only oppose Julian and protect Jack and August, but also to swallow his pride and admit his wrongdoings. 

2) During the second term, I learned a variety of literary devices and poetic techniques. The detailed explanation of the assigned essays for Wonder also enabled me to truly indulge my heart and soul into understanding the characters' emotions, and the hassles that they were experiencing. As a transferred student, I didn’t learn anything about English literature before. However, after studying, I have known more about literacy techniques such as rhyming pairs, symbolism, onomatopoeia……. In addition, I also learn to be empathetic, helpful and grateful.
