Texas is a generally VERY much red state, having very few, if none, state officials elected since 1994. Though this is the case, Texas has been experiencing a large amount of demographic change, becoming more diverse in race and ethnicity and potentially giving way to a change in constituent political leanings.

Beto O'rourke was born in El Paso, Texas. Beto served as the Texas 16th Congressional District House Representative for 3 terms. Beto is largely a moderate Democrat. Though he would highly appeal to extreme, left constituents, he strives to appeal to both sides, though most definitely leaning left, of the spectrum. He has been known to repeatedly state that we, as humans, would be able to best accomplish goals by working together regardless of party affiliation.

A lawyer, he served in the Kansas State House from 2002 to 2015.
-“We’re a nation of immigrants,” Davis said. “People who are contributing to our economy, that are playing by the rules, that are paying taxes, that are learning English should be given a pathway to becoming an American citizen.”
-In response to the moderator’s question about rural health care, Davis said the federal government would serve interests of southeast Kansas by cracking down on high prescription medicine costs and speeding generic drugs to market. He said popular provisions of the Affordable Care Act should be retained, including protection of people with pre-existing medical conditions, and Kansas ought to expand eligibility for Medicaid.

He also would strive to improve the visa system and hit back at cities that refused to help federal agents enforce immigration law.
-Watkins, who has a father and wife who work as physicians, said the problem was rooted in the imposition of Obamacare and an obsession among liberal politicians to impose unnecessary regulations on doctors.

We predict that the democratic candidate Paul Davis will win the 2018 midterm election. The evidence is the sudden increase in early polls for the democratic party, making the margin difference a one point lead for the democrats in a red state. Lynn Jenkins also leaving an open seat means neither candidate has an incumbent advantage, however the district previously voted percentage wise about half of the republicans percentage, 32.5 to 60.9 respectively. However one weakness is that the live polls are still an early count and anything can happen by November 6th, yet for the sudden increase and energy coming from the democratic party shows that the district may be ready for a change.
