It starts off on the day of the reaping where Katniss is afraid of what might happen after a little time with gale in the forest they go to the reaping where they will decide who will be in the hunger games. Katniss sister, Prim, got picked for the hunger games. But katniss decided to volenteer. The boy she didn’t really talk to and not like as much got picked. She was a little mad but at the end of chapter one decided he wasn’t so bad and wanted to thank him for the bread.

There’s a family who was once well, now poor. They live in a secluded society and it’s called district 12. The main character is named Katniss and take care of her sister prim since her mom is depressed and her dad I dead. At the reaping katniss's little sister primrose was chosen but katniss volunteered in her favor so her little sister wouldn't have to go and then she had to leave her family and hope that they would be able to survive without her help.
