         <title>Critical Literacy</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I really enjoyed this article and found many elements useful, particularly Green's 3D Model of Literacy. Personally, I found that the three dimensions flowed well and could easily translate throughout numerous fields, from written to digital. Also, the 10 key aspects are a perfect fit for our work creating digital  and global citizens. I was drawn to the quote, "Texts are socially constructed from particular perspectives; they are never neutral," which had me thinking about the possible systemic influence of various curriculum documents.          <title>Money = Helping</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An interesting read that definitely brings up elements of our western culture and ideals. The I/me mentality, along with our capitalist drive, tends to create a vision of money as one of the keys to success and how we can 'lend a hand'. Although the study focused on elementary children, I would believe that this viewpoint would be shared beyond that age group. The stereotypes conjured up about those outside of our first world borders really do have many believing that we are needed to come in to fix and/or help because of the way we live here. The concept of fundraising as an immediate solution really emphasizes the need for us to have conversations beyond that surface level with not just the students, but everyone involved in the process. Ultimately, much of what we do is out of a need for ourselves to feel helpful and good,  and we never want to lose that, we just need to make sure we know how those good vibes fit with the bigger picture. <br><br>Be well,<br>Jason</div>]]></description>
