I wanted to design a chair that looks unique and different. It will be designed for one person at a time. I decided to explore different shapes being utilized to create a more complex chair. How can I stack and arrange a variety of the same and different shapes to create a more ascetically pleasing chair?

I think it's interesting how this chair utilizes triangles in a different way. It looks really clean and nice, and has a simple design of a singular three dimensional triangle underneath a two dimensional triangle being used as the backrest. I think this chair could improve its design by using two three dimensional triangles instead of one. This would make the chair look more complex and give it a sharp back that would add a sleek aesthetic.

https://www.houzz.com/products/the-triangle-chair-black-walnut-prvw-vr~15812324

I think that the optimal shapes for the base of the chair will be triangles or pyramids because of their sharp edges. Building up, I think that the best shape for the seat of the chair will be some kind of sphere, or maybe a trapezoid. After that, I want to attempt to mirror the base over the top of the chair to add complexity and a potential symmetrical aspect to the unique design.

Throughout the duration of this project I learned that chairs are one of the most versatile pieces of furniture. Its purpose is for someone to sit, so that they do not need to stand. This allows little restriction on the endless possibilities of what could be considered a chair. I found that creating an hour glass like shape at the bottom provided lots of stability while keeping a sleek figure. If I could change one thing it would be adding more support for comfort at the head area. After building this model, I realized that if you are a specific height, you could sit down to a point jabbing into your neck which would be extremely uncomfortable. After designing this chair, I'm thinking that I could design some sort of couch which is basically a chair for multiple people. Another option could be a light element, this intrigues me because during my virtual museum tour over the summer, I looked at a fascinating light.
