During a family trip to Nueva Viscaya, I remember being so confused when my uncle kept saying "eteng ni too" that turned into his nickname for me and he used it all the time so I ask my mother what "eteng ni too" means, and her answer was that "eteng ni too" means "big person or fat". And to be honest I wasn't thrilled with the "fat" part but I knew my uncle, he wasn't trying to be mean and still, I couldn't help but glance down at my stomach and wonder if they had a point.

One day me and my cousins are having a conversation about something regarding our families, when suddenly my brother said "where's my phone" but in kankana-ey langguage. He didn't know that my cousin nicknamed jim, hid it under the pillow for making fun of him. My brother was furious then he accused my other cousin nicknamed kong, saying "inton cellphone ko? Binugbug nikat" meaning "where's my phone or i'll punch you?. My cousin kong misunderstood the word "bingugbug nikat" into "inuguan nikat" meaning "I'll cut your head". Shocked and scared kong suddenly grabbed the phone under the pillow then immediately gave it to my brother. Then after that we all burst out laughing at the misunderstanding.

We attended a reunion back in the 20th of July 2023, and I met A LOT of relatives that I haven’t seen before from the past reunions. In that family event, one particular conversation reminded me of the situation similar in the video. A boy approached me. He’s tall, pale, and obviously wasn’t Filipino. I asked him where he’s from and he answered “eyghm from Transylvania”. From the moment I heard his accent I knew we would be facing language barrier. Well he speaks English but his accent messes the message up! We exchanged questions and answers, got along, but I kept saying “what?” and “please say that again”, it was embarrassing. His “e and I” seems to be in shambles and he was speaking too fast! But anyways I got to know him better. A relative of mine married a Romanian woman and he’s the son of the woman from another man. We’re also the same age. He’s a quick learner tho and we understood each other in no time. I wish we’d meet again he’s such a great guy. This situation made me realize that I should be patient in all times. Everyone is trying, and some patience is the key to people’s heart

On the first day of senior high school, our class was chaotic. Everyone was busy chatting with their friends and classmates. I noticed one of our classmates, a transferee, sitting quietly in their seat. They weren’t talking like the rest of us. Since most of us had been classmates since Grade 7 to 10, we all knew each other except for the transferee. Everything quieted down when our teacher arrived for the first subject. As usual, we introduced ourselves, and of course, there was an activity afterward. Our teacher, Ma’am, assigned a group activity, and coincidentally, I was grouped with the transferee. While discussing with my groupmates, we used our dialect, Kankanaey. I noticed the transferee staying silent, so I tried to involve them in the conversation. However, they furrowed their brow as if they couldn’t understand what I was saying.

“Wait, could you please speak in Tagalog? I don’t understand what you’re saying,” they replied. That’s when I realized they couldn’t comprehend Kankanaey. No wonder they were so quiet earlier—they didn’t understand the dialect we were using. From that moment on, whenever we spoke to them, we made sure to use Tagalog so they could understand and join the conversation.

In my experience, when I went home at my father's province I could not speak their dialect fluently and sometimes when I try to speak using their dialect they would often "Silang atum mun kali" which they meant was my accent sounds wrong when I try to speak using their dialect and for me that irritates me because I am trying to speak in a way that they would somehow understand me and appreciate my efforts. Not to mention that some of my relatives does not know how to speak also in Ilokano so there is a language barrier in that part but we manage to communicate with each other by having a friend or relative translates it to me or correct the way I pronounce the words.

When I was walking down the street after my class going to buy vegetable for my dinner, a stranger approached me. he said in Ilocano, "Hello mabalin agdamag, ayna ayan ti BDO ditoy?" ( Hello pwede magtanong saan banda dito yung BDO?)

I looked at him confused, not understand what he was saying. "Ano po?" I replied, "Diko po maintindihan."

The stranger looked at me with a puzzled expression, then tried again in Tagalog, "Ay, saan banda ang BDO dito?"

I understood the question this time and replied in Tagalog, "Ah, bago po mag Savemore tabi ng bentahan ng mga tiles".

The stranger smiled and thanked me, "Ah sige salamat"

As he walked away, I chuckled to myself, thinking about the brief encounter. Despite the language difference, we managed to communicate and help each other out. It was a small moment, but it reminded me of the importance of being patient and understanding when interacting with people from different backgrounds.

I continued my walk, feeling a sense of connection with the stranger, even if it was just for a brief moment

When I was about 13 my parents and I came to visit my families in Kapangan Benguet and I didn't learn Ibaloi since my parents only spoke to me in ilocano so when I came there they kept asking me (Ngantoy Ngaran mo?) What's your name? I wasn't able to understand it so I kept asking them to speak in ilocano because I didn't understand.

My personal experience in the is when i'm reading a manga or a manhwa online where in some parts are not translated or the translations are delayed. That makes me kinda angry because when i'm reading in a climax prat or exciting part of the manga or manhwa that's the time or the part are not translated and sume part are cut .
