What Makes a Strong Lead? by Mlle. Jones

With your partner, read through the 4 narrative story leads together (just the lead, not the whole story). Discuss which one has the best lead and why. Think about the different types of leads and try to figure out what kind of lead each story is. Write down some points about your discussion in here.

We think the story ___________ has the best lead because it is very exciting (uses exciting adjectives like "fast," "new," and "shaking") and it grabs the readers attention right away. It is also relatable to us as kids. For the type of lead, we think this one is an "Action Lead" because it gets the reader quickly engaged in the story by starting with an exciting action. An example from the reading is "_____________________".

We think the most interesting lead was the story “ The final program” because the title and the description were very good for example, surfer made the stars green, the sky lilac, and the full moon a wonderful amber yellow. We think this lead is sanpshot lead or talking lead they are both very similar in this story. Therfore we think it is the best short story out of the four stated in our literacy books.

From your students, Josh and Patrick
