1. What is lossless compression? How does it work? - lossless compression is a type of compression that allows data to be reconstructed completely from compression

2. Is lossless compression reversible? Explain.
yes lossless compression is reversible as it doesn't get rid of any data that is in the file and when its decompressed it goes back to its exact original form

3.What type of files would be compressed using lossless compression? Why? any form of file that you cant afford to lose data from such as exe files and important documents

4. Give some examples of file formats that use lossless compression - BMP PNG

5. Find a diagram that shows how lossless compression

Vector Questions Kevin and Callum

1. File Size: The file size is generally smaller as vector images are stored as equations, which means only the main details are stored instead of each pixel, colors, and resolution
2. Quality on enlargement or reduction: Because the images are made up of mathematical equations, image integrity is not lost when enlarging or reducing pictures.
3. What are they made from? Vector graphics are different to JPEG, BMP, GIF etc, file formats, in the sense that they are not made up of a grid of pixels, instead they are made up of paths defined by a start and end point, as well as other points, curves and angles.
a path can be a range of different shapes, such as a line, a square, a triangle or a curved shape.
4. What are they suitable for? Some uses of vector graphics include sign making, flash animations (for the artwork/smooth animations) and shape printing, as the use of shapes can allow the designs to be a lot smoother and accurate due to the mathematical equations used within the graphics.

1. File Size: A bitmap file can range in file size, as each pixel has to be stored, therefore, if the image is in color then the image will be a bigger file size than if the the image was in black and white,
2. Quality on enlargement and reduction: if the image is enlarged or reduced, the pixels will not adapt, meaning the image will look distorted and you might not be able to see the image clearly.
3.What are they made from?: bitmap images are made form singular pixels that each have their colour on the rgb spectrum.
4. What are they suitable for?: They are suitable for viewing on screens and if they are higher resolutions they can be up scaled slightly, but they cannot be up scaled greatly as it would show the pixels
