This theme is shown throughout the book through several different characters. It is revealed through the main character Erin Blake as the reader goes on journey with her when she tries to solve Miss P's murder which is the complete opposite of the assumption made about her. People believed Erin should have been more effected by this occurrence but it just made her want to be more involved and more interested which disproved the assumption that was made. This was also shown through Journey Michaels and Principal Roberts as they also had assumptions made about them but at the end of the novel they ended up just being a belief that the author made to throw off the reader. These examples relate to my theme as they are showing how from one instance or thought about someone you can not assume this is the truth about them. This makes sense to real life as well on how you can not really have thoughts or assumptions about someone without really seeing the whole picture of the scenario or really getting to know the person. Overall throughout the book To Catch a Killer and in real life assumptions that are made, they prove that assumptions may turn out to just be beliefs that people have made.
