The expedition opened up new territory for the fur and lumber trade and pointed out the best lands for future settlement and agriculture. This is similar to John Cabot because he discovered different territories in canada and different areas of the world.Lewis and Clark caused the us citizens to move west to take advantage to get farmland and build new houses and other buildings, which compares to John Cabot, who discovered colonies in Canada, Labrador, and Cape Breton.Lewis and clark discovered new plants and animal species when they traveled to new places. This compares to john cabot who discovered new land and other items in canada, labrador, and cape breton.

Lewis and Clark had so many impacts on the world, that still lead to today. One of the impacts that they had, was that they found many animals. Some of the animals were black tailed deer (or mule deer), white weasel, mountain goat, coyote and various species of rabbit, squirrel, fox and wolf. That compares to today, which we discover new things everyday. Recently, we discovered a new mammal. The olinguito is the first carnivore species to be discovered in the American continents in 35 years. The two-pound mammal has large eyes and woolly orange-brown fur.

Another impact on the world was when Lewis and Clark found new plants. They found Black greasewood (Sarcobatus vermiculatus), Blue flax (Linum lewisii), Buffaloberry (Shepherdia argentea), Curly-top gumweed (Grindelia squarrosa), Fringed sagebrush (Artemisia ludoviciana), Gumbo evening primrose (Oenothera caespitosa), Indian tobacco (Nicotiana quadrivalvis), and Lanceleaf sage (Salvia reflexa). This compares to today’s studies of new plants. One new plant found this year is the atlantic forest tree. It can grow up to 130 feet, it emerges above the canopy of the semi-deciduous, riparian, pristine Atlantic forest in Brazil where it is found. This massive tree, weighs an estimated 62 tons (56,000 kg). While large in dimension, the tree is limited in numbers – it is known from only 25 individuals, about half of which are in the protected area, making it critically endangered.

Lewis and clark were told by thomas jefferson to explore the west of the mississippi. They discovered new land and new plant and animal species, such as the Black-tailed prairie dog and Indian tobacco. They also met people along the way. This expedition compares to the Belgian Antarctic Expedition. Gustav Dufour was a sailor at the time. He led the expedition to the antarctic region of the world. The crew discovered new land, along with new animal species. Through some troubles on getting there, both Lewis and Clark and Gustav’s crew had successful expeditions.
