Sonia has an interest in, and passion for weight loss and diabetes, this later led her to focus her expertise on metabolic disorders and she now utilizes most of her consulting hours for the medical nutrition therapy of diabetes as well as medical and surgical weight loss.

She forms part of a multidisciplinary team of dietitians, surgeons, an endocrinologist and psychologists at Zuid Afrikaans Hospital in Pretoria where they aim to improve the health and quality of life of those living with excess adiposity.
