Plant Protection Products (PPPs), also known as pesticides, are used to keep crops healthy by protecting them against pests and diseases. They are procuts based on natural chemicals and minerals.
The development of modern PPPs began in the 1940s, when Europe faced food shortages and rationing in the wake of World War II and the protection of crop yields had heightened importance.
The use of pesticides is very controversial, because they are beneficial tools in agriculture, but they can also be dangerous for humans, wildlife and the environment.

The main application methods to spreed pesticides are seed treatment and spray application.
Seed treatment is a chemical, typically antimicrobial or fungicidal, with which are treated prior to planting to protect against soil-borne risks to the plant. These coatings can provide supplemental chemicals and nutrients designed to encourage growth. Seed treatment can be more environmentally friendly way of using pesticides as the amount of used can be very small.
Spray application convert a pesticide formulation into droplets and very still wind condition are required.
Pre-emergent pesticide application remove undesirable organisms amd maximizing the amount of water, soil nutrients, and sunlight available for the crop. Post-emergent pesticide application requires the use of specific chemicals chosen to minimize harm to the desirable target organism
