The development of nuclear technology would be delayed for countries around the world, and the wrong people could have gotten their hands on it and used it for nefarious reasons in order to gain power. The same would go for halting the spread after Nagasaki, the wrong countries could have developed nuclear technology before the United States and the world landscape would be much different today. The scientists and engineers could not predict that the nuclear bomb would actually be dropped, and once it was, they were horrified to know how they had contributed to this technology. Many bad countries around the world have access to this kind of warfare, and it is very scary to think about what they could do with this technology at the push of a button. It also scares me to think about how nuclear technology is only getting more and more powerful, and more and more countries are developing the technology to be able to drop a nuclear bomb.
