Aisyah: I am Aisyah.

Elyzza: We will be sharing about the Hall in our school. Every morning, we would gather here to have our assembly. We would arrive 10 minutes before the assembly to begin our reading. Our school has a morning routine where every student is expected to bring an English book and read for 10 minutes every morning.

Aisyah: This routine helps us build a healthy habit of reading as we get constant exposure to English words everyday. Even though we speak English all the time, we still strive to learn and this is one way we can improve our English as students. Reading also prepare us mentally to start the day right and prepare for school. [Aiysah gives out National Anthem + Pledge handout before Elyzza continues]

Elyzza: After 10 minutes of reading, we would also sing the national anthem every morning at 7:30am and recite the pledge. We have given you a copy of our national anthem and the pledge. If you can spot the difference, our national anthem is in Malay and our pledge is written in English. Malay is our national language so the anthem reminds us of our roots. English is our main spoken language which is why the pledge is in English so that people of all races can recite and understand it together.

Aiysah: Besides gathering here in the morning for assembly, we also use the hall for our CCA, which are afterschool activities. Sometimes during Physical Education lessons, we also use the hall to play pickle ball, floor ball and badminton.

Elyzza: We also celebrate different festivals in the hall. Festivals like Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Teacher's Day, Youth Day and more! So the hall is a special place because it is large enough to host hundreds of students and brings everyone together. We have come to the end of our sharing for the school hall, thank you for listening. We will now do a fun activity together where we will learn how to speak Singlish!

Daniyal: and my name is Daniyal.

Shiva: so now we are at the library which is located at the 2nd floor above our school canteen. Usually we come here to read and borrow books in our free time. There are many activities held at the library. Every month, the library has a lot of activities for students to do and they always have a special theme. For February, the special theme is Valentine's day and as you can see in the "Innovate" and "Imagine" zones, there are Valentine's day activities prepared for students to come in and try out.

Daniyal: There are also some rooms for teachers to conduct classes in their periods and we would come in during our free time to study.

Shiva: We can find out information about anything in the library with books and magazines here. All the books here are classified into genres which makes it a lot easier to find the books that we need. This could only happen because of ou school librarian, Mdm Zaira, who is happy to see us everytime we walk into the library. This concludes what we do in the library. Now we will share some experience that we have in the school library. I am currently a Secondary 2 student so this is my second year in the school. I have completed many activities like doing word search, attending briefings, playing games, having lessons, doing amazing races and more in the library.

Daniyal: For me, I am Secondary 1 student so this is my first year and I am still new to the school. The only experience I have at the library so far is taking my Ez-link card photo. If you are not sure what an Ez link is, it is a card that is used for public transports and more. This is an example of it. [Shiva shows his Ez-link card]

Shiva: And with that, we have concluded our sharing of our experiences at the school library! We hope you guys enjoyed it and learnt a little more about our school library! Thank you for listening. We will now move on to an activity where we will learn how to speak Singlish.

Daiyan: I am Daiyan

Siva: and today we are going to share about the UG Room. UG stands for Uniformed Groups. On the right side of this room, there are medals and souvenirs that our UGs have obtained. The school has displayed them in this room to showcase their successes. We will have some time to take a look at them later. In Singapore, we have CCA, which stands for co-curricular activities. These are afterschool activities where we meet with other Woodlanders from different levels and classes. For me, I am a Secondary 2 student so I get to mingle with my sec 3 & 4 seniors and my sec 1 juniors during CCA. UG groups are a type of CCA and in Woodlands Sec, our UG Groups include Boys' Brigade, National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) and National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC).

Daiyan: It is easy to identify them because they will wear uniforms that look like the army and the police. This UG room is not only for the UGs in Woodlands Sec but it is also a student-centered learning place where we take lessons here and even the drama club have their rehearsals here. I am from the drama club so we practice acting on this stage that we are on right now. We learn how to recite scripts with more emotions during our sessions and play around with stage directions.

Siva: Lessons are also conducted in this room. We also have consultations with our teachers here if we need to. Sometimes we do class bonding activities there too. Such activities include games we prepare to play at Elderly Homes for our Values In Action programme. That is an activity where we entertain those in Elderly Homes so that they are also happy.
