The koala has large rounded, hairy ears, a large head, bright eyes, a broad muzzle and a naked, flattened nose. It has a grayish fur with small tufts on the white chest: the upper part of the body is a grayish color. The hair is long, soft and, due to the diet, it smells of eucalyptus. The body is stocky and without a tail, the feet have five prehensile toes, with sharp claws that allow it to climb trees, on which it lives in small groups
As previously said, the diet of the adult koala is fundamentally based on the consumption of leaves and eucalyptus buds that would be berries, from which they derive nourishment and water.
According to the Australian Koala Foundation, as many as 80,000 koalas lived throughout the country in 2019. And of the 28,000 who lived in New South Wales - one of the regions most affected by the vast fires of the past few weeks - about 8,000 would have already been dispersed or killed, at least as estimated by the WWF this week as a provisional budget. Yet another blow to a species already considered functionally extinct, and which could disappear completely within the next thirty years.

Behaviour: Polar bear breeding pairs remain together for one week or more, mating several times. Play fighting has been observed between aggregating subadult and adult male polar bears.

Population today: 20,000 and 25,000 animals
Reasons why it is endangered: Because of ongoing and potential loss of their sea ice habitat resulting from climate change, polar bears were listed as a threatened species in the US under the Endangered Species Act in May 2008. The survival and the protection of the polar bear habitat are urgent issues for WWF.
