Lots of call-outs. When 2 were scheduled and 1 called out, 1 person was left to do an entire campfire alone, which is too much. Should schedule 3 people or have a 3rd person as backup in case somebody calls out.

I know prior to the pandemic there were more park partners involved: Marine Mammal Center, Bay Area Discovery Museum, for example—I am wondering if they could be brought back into the partnership? Do they have capacity/interest?

Daniel experimented with doing a song and activity. Other Y counselors can do songs/skits as well, maybe alternating between NPS and Y staff to do the campfire program.

If possible, try to spread things out more evenly across the GOGA sites (and even amongst our divisions) - looking at the scheduled programming, some sites (and divisions) participated more than others.

YMCA leadership training led by NPS ranger team, before the summer kicks off, so that the new staff is able learn about the park sites history, they can ask questions, to become familiar with the park sites, and learn expectations for the summer. Expectations of YMCA staff and expectations of rangers.

It could be turned into an opportunity for a talent show, if we are looking for more activities for the campfire…..

Similar to trainings workshops that we have for interns and fellow mentors, having similar trainings and workshops for park staff leading these programs.

There is a city summer reading initiative in SF called Everybody Reads, that distributes picture books. We could possibly order kits to distribute to the younger Y Rangers.

Also, we could distribute brochures so that rising 4th graders know how to get their NPS annual passes in the fall after camp. —Lu
