Childress, the Director of Oncology Nursing Services at Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah highlights that there is a well documented communication disconnect between physicians and their nursing counterparts.  Tools meant to help with communication, such as electronic medical records, have only added to the complexity of the issue.

It's my belief that there could be a significant reduction in miscommunication if staff is required to take ongoing training on the subject. The more aware you are that there is room for improvement, the more opportunity you have to improve.
