How can you apply what you had learned about forces and loads to today's design challenge, building the tallest paper tower you can?

I think the best thing to do would be to use a material that can handle lots of compression to hold the weight. Although I wouldn't need a material that can handle tension because the weight is pushing on the structure instead of pulling.

if we used all the forces like compression tension and the others the design challenge would have been easier for us to do it. Everything that we did was hard for some people but easier for others. So that would have been easier. When we were planning what we were going to do if we had thought of the forces then that would have been so easy to do. Forces are so fun to do but not to easy either. and that it is bye bye or hi hi

To find something that can withstand tension, compression, etc (on that subject).... and really, can withstand some pressure. Because if you open a building without any support to hold anything but itself, it'll fall and/or collapse, and....all your hard work, will be just wasted effort, and you'll have to go back to the drawing board. So first, talk about what your doing with your team, then, make sure they know what they're doing, then, get your materials (for us, 2 newspapers) and go with it. There maybe problems here and there, but try to stick up to it. Don't just stop the whole thing because 1 thing messes up. Try someone else's idea. It's not going to be easy, but just try.

I think Keira has a perfect process, and I kinda freaked out when we found out we only had two pieces of newspaper, and on top of that, we couldn't use anything else except our own hands. I'm kinda used to utilizing tape and stuff like that. masking tape is great and all that but people think you can use it for anything. Buuuuut, no. It can't, kinda like how people think you can put a cold, stale cookie in the microwave and it will be perfect. But cookies don't aren't perfect after you put them in the microwave. Anyways, Keira, you have a perfect process for working in groups, or maybe even comparing two of your own ideas, which may not be perfect, which is okay. I thought the stool thing would be kinda easy, but it was KINDA everything but.Easy. was that not clear? anyways, keira has a awesome process, and I award her the awesome award, for being socially unstable, (in a good way!) and figuring out a way to reverse that! well, my hands are getting tired, aa nD IM wwww riting bloo blaa, sssssooooo BBYYYYEEEEEE.

I wish that you gave us a list of different things we could use, so that we could use things that were strong in compression. Then, we would be able to make stronger buildings.

aidan rangel i made a flopy tower with sports it was not that flopy but was 7 iches tall but before i say just 2 news papers i made it short but i whated to make it tall well it was not stabil will i say i say what not stabil but good looking will our plan was not working well it was risky.

You could use forces to learn what kind of structural areas you need to work on.Loads help you see what kinds of weights you put on it.Forces like torsion, torsion twist and turns and my paper tower had lots and lots of torsion.Loads will help by making sure that it's right with weight.

The news paper challenge was very hard because we didn't have tape. Me and Troy work together and got a 11 inch skyscraper we tried to make it like the bottom was big and got smaller with each sheet. it was hard to keep it balanced because it was flimsy and hard to stay together with no tape.

I think newspaper was unstable, making our structure unbalanced. I think if we had more supplies we could build a better foundation,and make reinforsments (like tape) to make a more stable structure. I think making a tall strucure woud've been easy if the supplies would have coporated .

Today i learned that its really really challenging to make a structure out of two pieces of newspaper. What made it so challenging is because newspaper is on of the flimsiness material in the world.Also that triangles are one of the best shapes to build with .

The newspaper challenge was hard but easy because we had no tape but we could tear,change its shape,roll it,ect. Our tower was 19 1/2 inches long . What we did was we thought about posts,lintels, and columns we made a hole doorway , then put a hole in the crossbeam, lastly we put a piece of newspaper in the hole for extra height

The news paper challenge was really difficult ,because of the lack in materials. tall Buildings have requirements like foundations, support and bedrock to support it. The newspaper was very flimsey and there wasn't a lot of news paper so it ended up being only 11 inches long

I learend that you need to fold not crumble the paper it was fun and cool.we try'd tomake a box with a long tornadoey thing in a hole that we made on the top of the box.it was very bad .triangles are WAY better then cubes. I know that from exper

We folded it and tore it so that it would stay. It worked and stayed up for 30 secs. The paper was stable.

The paper challenge was very challenging the hardest part was my team we were out of wack.Callahan was ripping paper me and Jeremy were licking.I just didn't know what to do.The girls won the had a 22 1/2 on us they won they disserved it.

Newspaper is one of the flimsiest possible materials to use. Though flimsy it could be strong with a lot of reinforcing however, we did not have enough materials. One problem was it was experimental pairing however, I did get a good partner in which we won the challenge. Me and Graciela won the challenge with a tower at the height of 22 1/2 inches.

Torsion is when a building or product bends and sometime this can lead to a diaster! Me and Aiden learned that today in the design challenge. When we tried new idea they bendend and all that jazz. Plus my partner was goofing around and I went hard on him because I was mad and frustraed . I was super sad and mad when we had nothing to turn in . I was hoping to finish and I was mad at Aiden but I had to take the blame to and Aiden is super smart now I do not blame him.

Me, James, and Jeremy were a group. We did really bad. I made a tiny structure expecting them to build on to it but they refused. They started licking paper expected ME to rip it. We decided that my tiny tower would be a backup that ended up being used but when the timer went off Jeremy took the tower and sat on it and crunched it and we lost to Lola and Graciela and the had a tower 22 1/2 inches.

I think that we should have been able to use glue , tape , and pencils so that we could use them to reinforce the towers.

It would be best to make a pyramid because triangles are really sturdy
