While we may be free from the colonization of lands by other nations, I do believe that we are not free from colonization. This is because even if we do not notice, we are slowly influenced by the cultures of other places and regions and we change our views based on if we agree or disagree with them. Because of this, we may reject our own culture because of the culture of others which we choose to represent instead of our own. This could also be applied in things like business, where the ones that arrive first tend to get most profit out of their environment and drown out other opposing businesses.

My answer to the question is a big no. Up untill now, many factors of colonialism still exist in our country and these may be observed everywhere on a daily basis. Although they may not be similar to the past and are less revolting, these powerful countries still find some way to control our economy or bring cultural influence. For instance, the mere fact that the Philippines ranked 4th among countries for the most amount of people subscribed to streaming services can already be seen as a form of Neocolonialism since its existence have made Filipinos to switch from local streaming services to these big tech corporations. So to summarize my answer, no we are not free from colonization because of things like social media that brings cultural influence and big corporations that dominate local companies.
