MMU just reduced the hours of one of the most special members of our community, Jane the lunch lady, due to budget cuts. We can't let this happen! Post about what she means to you, or positive experiences you’ve had with her. We will show these to school administrators to demonstrate the positive impact Jane has on our school and why we need her. Our goal is to point out to school administrators why Jane shouldn't get reduced hours. Updates about progress being made with the school administration will be posted here in RED. Jane Lavanway is One of the greatest humans ever. She has nothing but love in her heart and she makes my day as a student everyday. She makes the best damn MMUnchie bars I’ve ever tasted in my life. She brings so much to MMU and always has a positive attitude.

Jane is the only part of school that I can look forward to every morning. She goes out of her way to save left over coffee from the day in the fridge for me to have ice coffee in the morning and brings me a smile and this may sound dramatic but I can say gets me through the day. Something as small of a deed like coffee really means a lot to me and I cannot believe the staff of mmu would even think to fire a women who makes kids days so much brighter in a place as hard as High school.

Jane is one of the kindest staff memebers at MMU. She greets me by name everyday in the lunch line. I hang out with her during lunch sometimes and almost everyday in the lunch line. I'm not as close to her as others are, but from what I have experienced, she is the sweetest, most selfless person out there. She makes you feel so welcomed and makes the lunches and music 10x better!! To making sure all the tables we wait for are clean, to asking how your day was, making sure you have your lunch, and letting you change the music in the lunch room. If MMU doesnt see any of this traits in her then it's their loss and only her gain. And they will immediately regret their decision.

Seeing Jane at lunch is honestly one of my favorite parts of my day here at MMU. I've never seen her in a bad mood, and she's always so pleasant and kind. I remember a few days before my year started I came into the school and wanted to figure out where my classes were and got kind of lost. Even though the school year hadn't started, Jane was there and helped show me around. From there on out, she'd always smile and say hi to me when I saw her, and it's made my bad days so much better. Now I'm not sure why Jane isn't returning to MMU, but I really think this should be reevaluated, as I know we'd all miss her terribly and I know for a fact that the MMU community wouldnf't eel the same.

Jane is not only a great staff member but also a great friend. She is always willing to sit down and listen to you and give you advice, or just be a shoulder to lean on. There’s not a lot of adults at MMU who decide to get involved in student life and having Jane makes such a huge difference. MMU for me has not been a great experience, i’ve has run ins with so many teachers who don’t understand what it’s like and what i’m going through. One person who does understand is Jane. She is the kindest adult in the school and does more than just check us out at the end of the lunch line. Letting her go would be a huge mistake and would make a giant hole in the MMU community.

Whenever someone forgets their lunch code, Jane immediately says “It’s okay, *so and so’s name*, I can just look it up for you”. She makes an effort to know every student, and it shows in times like that. Jane leaving is like removing the lungs; the body won’t be able to function. I graduated from MMU in 2016, but I am saddened to have read the previous posts. I know for a fact that Jane is one of the best lunch ladies I have ever had throughout my years in the CESU school district, and trust me I’ve had my fair share of horrible lunch ladies. My senior year of highschool I was going through a really rough time, and every time she saw me she went out of her way to say hello and ask how I was doing, and on the really bad days, give me words of advice, and tell me she was always there no matter what.
Certain days I would get so overwhelmed throughout the course of the day and I’d just go to the cafe to grab a drink or a snack and talk to Jane for about 10 extra minutes (oops). Now I understand budget cuts, and everything that adds up to it, but ask yourself this question: do you want someone who the kids at your school confide in, look up to, and most importantly want to see in their daily routines, to just be gone? Jane puts in 110% every single day when she is at MMU, goes above and beyond what her job description asks of her, and makes the kids feel at home. School is these kids second home, so taking away a very wonderful familiar face, will not only be affecting the kids at the school, but also her life. Maybe instead of spending so much money on sports, put a little extra TLC in the kitchen, where it matters the most.

For Jane: I hope you are able to read all of these wonderful posts, and even if this doesn’t help, know that you have touched hundreds of lives, just by being yourself and having a beautiful soul. Thank you ❤️

Jane is not an ordinary lunch member at MMU. Throughout elementary school, middle school, and highschool you experience many cafeteria memebers. From my experience not all of them enjoy or appreciate the job they have. Jane is more than a team player. I have first hand witnessed the relationships she builds with her coworkers and students. Jane is the type of person you want in this setting. It didn't matter what kind of day she was having, she was always smiling! She was so enthusiastic. She made you want to get lunch just so you could say hi to her. In the end we all work a job for a reason weither it be to support our family or pay for our bills. Jane has not only influenced my life, but she has influenced everyone of my siblings life’s also. When I was in 5th grade, my oldest brother fell asleep at the wheel and was instantly killed. He had just graduated from MMU. As the years have gone on I remember less and less about him, but things that I do remember are him coming home everyday and talking about this lady who was always happy and always encouraged him if he was having a bad day. My other brother was a upcoming freshman that year. My oldest brother had been his best friend his whole life. Like brothers they fought a lot, but they still loved eachother. So when my oldest brother passed my brother sunk into a deep depression and began acting out like never before. He had a horrible freshman year. He hated his teachers, and they did not know what to do with him. I remember him coming home everyday with a new story about how his day was horrible. But the one good thing that always came out of the story was when he got to go to lunch. Jane knew everything that my brother was going through, and she always supported him and encouraged him in the way he needed. I did not have the opportunity of meeting her until this year, but on move up day, I was in the lunch line and she knew who I was. She knew what family I was from just from looking at me. She pays attention to everyone around her, and she is always one of the hilights of my day! Thank you Jane for always supporting us and helping us through hard times💕

I worked at MMU with Jane in the kitchen. Jane's talents in the kitchen go so far and above just preparing food. The way she interacts and connects with students is what brings the care and attention that so many need and return for. She is caring, kind, professional and talented beyond any other person in that kitchen. I am proud to call her a friend.

one of the first things I noticed about MMU was the amazing kitchen staff. I was excited to go through the lunch line, not only to get my goodness but for the few short seconds I had to chat with Jane. Her smile has made me smile each day of high school, and ther are not many people I can say that about. Jane is an integral part of our community and MMU will be a different place without her.
