The theme I have chosen for power is; " power comes in many forms and can be used in many ways". This is because, in the first act, Antonio uses his power for bad as he banishes his brother as well as Miranda to become the king of Naples. In opposition, Prospero uses his magic in a "good" way as he doesn't use it to harm people but to help. Another example of power came from the crew on the ships even though they didn't have magic they knew the situation. Showing that power doesn't only come from status but knowledge as well.

The theme I chose for perspective was limited experiences lead to a limited perspective. This is seen with Miranda from the Tempest, she has a negative and or weak perspective on life throughout what we have read. We can assume this is because she has been sheltered her whole life not being allowed to interact with people and have all the experiences everyone else has.

When desperate people see themselves as worthy they will do anything they can to make that picture true. We see this come true when Antonio uses his power to try and convince Sebtation to kill his brother by saying "And look how well my garments sit upon me, Much feater than before. My brother’s servants Were then my fellows; now they are my men. But, for your conscience" ( Shakespeare 2.1. 312-316). This shows that he is using his wealth and the way he sees his situation to persuade Sebastion to become the "New King". This is because he sees it as no problem because when you have money and control the people you can have no problems.

Perspective/Power Act 3

This act while not displaying an overall strong theme of any individual theme can draw connections to both power and perspective we can see how both can impact humans' thoughts and actions. This appears most clearly when "From Prospero's perspective, the disguised Ariel represents justice and the powers of nature" ( sparknotes.com). This quote provides us with not only proof that through perspective prospero changes how he acts because he believes that ariel is justice and the powers of nature. Now, it also shows power because ariel is using his ability to disguise himself so the people do not know who he is. So, in contrast to other examples of power this is not knowledge as power but a legitimate power being used.
