She is quite brazen.<br><br>Wonder: I wonder why she isn't more guarded, afraid. Being younger, I would expect Kirsti to be more scared especially if she is 5 and the soldiers have been around for 3 years.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

(page 11)<br></em><br>Observe: She has heard German soldiers using the word "stop" many times.&nbsp;<br>Notice: Familiarity typically comes with comfort. When you are familiar with someone, you become more at ease. In this case, it is the other way round. Which shows the kind of negative experiences Annemarie has had with the German soldiers.&nbsp;<br>Wonder: To whom did the German soldiers direct their commands to usually?</div>]]></description>

(page 15)<br><br>Observe: It appears that it is the calm after a very traumatic or negative experience.<br>Notice: Kirsti's knowledge and experience with the German soldiers is a stark contrast to the one Annemarie and Ellen had.<br>Wonder: What exactly happened before Kirsti could remember/was born?
