I am originally from the Appalachian Mountains and speak Southern American English. From this article written by experts in our field, I have learned that even though some individuals may speak with a dialect and/or accent, this could make you an incredible candidate as an SLP. I want to encourage and provide education to individuals to who also have an accent or dialect to continue in their preparation and pursuit of Speech-Language pathology.
https://www.speechpathologygraduateprograms.org/do-you-speak-with-an-accent-you-can-still-be-an-outstanding-slp/

Technology is completely transforming the field of speech pathology.
