Independent variable- the variable that is changed in an experiment (does not depend on another)
Dependable variable- the variable that is being measured in the experiment (depends on another)
Control group- Group that does not receive special treatment
Experimental group- Group that does receive special treatment in the experiment

First point of dissecting the experiment by creating a hypothesis. The hypothesis is a predicted explanation made with limited information about the experiment. If..... then... looking further into our hypothesis the Independent and dependent variables must be identified.

The Independent variable is described as the variable that changes in our experiment, meaning it does not depend on another variable. In this experiment the independent variable is defined as ... 
looking for the dependent variable it is shown as the variable that is being measured in the experiment. 

In this experiment it is important to identify the control and experimental group. The control group is the group that does not receive any special treatment; however, the experimental group is the group that does receive treatment. 

To conclude this experiment it is also important to explain the confounding variable. Hypothesis- If the brain is split into 2 separate brains then the patient will not be able to function normally because their brains lack communication
Conducting the study- The study involves taking patients and performing split-brain surgery
Paragraph 2
results from running the study- Researchers found that the left side of the brain is responsible for comprehending language and the right side of the brain is responsible for creativity/ emotions. The split brain surgery may actually be able to split each hemisphere and have them work individually
impact of psychologist research on the field of psychology- People who have experienced the split-brain surgery may have the potential to process twice as much information if the two hemispheres are split.

Does the study have both a control group and experimental group?-
This is not an experiment because there is no independent variable that is manipulating something because all the subjects have had the split-brain surgery "four of the patients consented to participate in examination and testing by Sperry and Gazzaniga to determine how their perceptual and intellectual skills were affected as a result of this surgical treatment.(pg.1)"
