1. Genre

2. World - e.g add the name of your first pet to either field or ville. e.g mine was 'socksville'

3 Character - and cooking up an interesting character - e.g when illustrating think about the body language the character would use. Use the features that the character would have e.g Bugs bunnys ears

4. Stuff - adding an element that enhances the character, a prop, e.g a skydiver would need a parachute for his prop. In a comic story - change it e.g after jumping character goes to pull his chute and pulls out a toilet brush instead !!

5.Obstacles - introducing something that can change the path the character is on - a door

6. Choices - Include challenges for the character - don't make the goal easy . E.g the character comes to a door. it is locked and he knows someone is on the other side. He cant get in, he spots two toothpicks. does he... use the toothpicks to climb the wall of the fortress or stay put banging on the door for all eternity.

7. Triumph and Treasure - don't just have a treasure chest of gold - have the treasure as something that is special to the character.

Hope this makes sense - I thought there were some really good elements that could allow the children to collaborate together with making a story. The transition project could be make a comic about a character going to the new school and the adventures they have.... Or we could go into the manga shakespeare. It might be worth having a word with Kate and see what she thinks.

Could introduce this into our plan as a workshop into the high school part of the transition and then one lesson could be about a follow up to this?
