My aunt was really good at basketball and was going to travel the world for basketball. There was only one spot left on the team and she won it over another girl. One day they were scrimmaging the lower team and the girl who my aunt took the last spot over really wanted that spot. While playing, the other player shoved my aunt causing her to injur herself. She wants able to continue her basketball career and now is a vice principal at a high school. My cousin is currently attending San Jose state university and has his own company. Growing up he would get straight A’s in High School and middle schools. His parents didn’t push him to get good grades/didn’t care about his grades. This didn’t stop him from doing his best at school. He has his own company of concrete while studying and has no financial help from his parents. He does everything on his own and gets no days off. This influences me because he had little help growing up and now is attending college and paying for the college on his own. He has worked hard  and that influences me to work hard and do my best no matter what challenges come my way. Sonny feels that his family doesn’t love and support him due to his dream and believes that a family should support their children no matter what they dream of being. His family feels that Sunny isn’t as good as his brother Jim, and this is expressed when Sunny claims that “I noticed that he and Jim exchanged a look of what I took to be agreement of the shame of me being in the band”(Hickman,Jr 29). This is important because it shows that his dad and his brother see him as weaker and unworthy of the attention that Jim has because he wants to join the band while his brother is a star football player. The feeling of solidarity and sadness this gave Sunny made him feel less then his brother and making him lose confidence. This shows how  all families should treat all of their kids the same no matter what profession they decide to take because if they decide to treat one less then other they could lose their confidence and end up not becoming anything. His mom is the only one who supports him and she claims, “show him you can do something! Build a rocket!”. This is relevant because it shows how he is not at his father standards. His father believes that he is not worth anything and cant do anything. This is relevant because dropping your kids hopes is wrong and can affect you. In conclusion, parents should love their kids and support them no matter what happens.
