I think that the relationship between reason and emotion is antagonistic, because emotion often tends to block people's reasoning. A great example of this is political debate; it is often difficult, or even impossible, to have a productive political conversation that does not end in tears and shouts, because people are so tied to how they feel that they start to ignore logic and reason. Many problems in this world may be better resolved if people did not allow emotion to get in the way of their reason.

I feel like of course some of the time emotion and reason will line up. However, most of the time emotion is what makes a person defy reason. Really it is our most human quality to have an emotion override all instinct and reason when deciding upon an action. I think emotion and reason are sort of a yin and yang, you can't have one without the other, relationship as well.

The relationship between reason and emotion is one of antagonism, because emotion often overrides reason when we find or discuss something that we have passion for. Passion, which stems from emotion, causes us to not lead by what we know is right, but by what /we believe/ is right. In turn, however, reason controls our emotion, ensuring that we understand the facts before leading with our hearts. This is essentially an argument of "head VERSUS heart", which means that neither variable can fully be expressed at the same time.

Sometimes you may feel an emotion that you cannot explain or is contradicted by your reasoning.

I think the relationship between reason and emotion is antagonistic because oftentimes people will let their emotions guide their way of thinking and learning instead of using reason to gain knowledge. Emotion tends to be how we feel about certain things whereas reason is what we use to understand facts in reality. Therefore, they are different from one another and for the most part must be applied at different times. However, oftentimes the two AOKs do overlap because many people use emotion to guide their reasoning such as in politics.

I believe that reason and emotion are primarily antagonistic because I see them as two ways to approach an issue. When faced with a problem, especially morally or personally, there is a purely logical approach that is most likely efficient and overall cleaner, but an emotional approach that results in yours or someone else's happiness typically at the expense of others. Sometimes one or the other is more suited to a situation, but it is always a tough choice. This can be seen as a common conflict in most fantasy stories, proving just how difficult it can be to choose emotion or reason. In the best situations, a careful combination of both can be used to create the best result, but it is hard to find and tricky to do.

I think the relationship between reason and emotion is complementary because a lot of times people base their logic or reason on their emotions. This is mainly due to the fact that we are all human and it is almost impossible to take emotion out of anything because emotions prove our humanity. People hope or wish they could take out their emotions and only use logic or reason, but that is improbable because we all have our own opinions based upon our emotions.

In life you use both reason and emotion to approach different situations in order to reach your outcome or decision. However, emotion is used for the Arts, Language, RKS, and the Ethics. The only AOK they have in common is Ethics. It is rare that these two WOKs are used in the same area, as emotion is arbitrary and changes for each person, but everyone can use the same reasoning.

I think the relationship between reason and emotion is antagonistic because they can get in the way of one another. An entity only with reason, like an artificial intelligence, is the ultimate “greater good” machine where it will do whatever is best in terms of quantifiable data such as saving as many people as possible or as many important people as possible. A human has reason but also emotion, which is why authority figures in the military and in high positions have to be emotionless sometimes and work for the greater good rather than letting emotion influence their actions. Emotion is what makes humans human, but reason is what allows us to improve ourselves and our environment. Each is important in different situations but letting them both affect a decision can lead to choices that will be regretted.

Someone's mental state can have a great impact on how they feel about something or if they even was to do something period. Emotion, depending on which, can often bring irrationality upon a person.
