After only one week, 4 students have approached me asking to be a mentor while the mentees have started turning in their homework. The buddy system is beneficial because it allows them to work together and help each other out in case one of them is struggling or does not understand the material. My goal is to always partner up students that can help each other. For example I like to partner up a student that is really good at Math with someone who is behind or has a hard time understanding. We always open one gift on Christmas Eve and its always pajamas. I haven't gotten my boys matching pjs in a long time, but I was feeling nostalgic this year, and luckily they felt like indulging me. This photo reflects a common instructional strategy I use often. Here, students were exercising scientific and engineering practices while getting to know their new table-mates. Teams were competing to construct the tallest free-standing tower using only raw spaghetti noodles and limited tape with a marshmallow on top.
