They are also not necessarily developed in a particular order. Academic language dimensions need to be developed together! Students should be given exposure to each dimension with multiple opportunities to grow those skills.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Academic language for a class does include topic specific vocabulary, but it also incorporates  standard-specific expectations (like analyze, compare and contrast, identify, explain).&nbsp;In order for students to acquire language, they also need the productive and receptive language skills associated with academic tasks. </div>]]></description>
