AVID Site Team- Planning for Next Year by Ashley Leitschuh

We have really done an incredible job of getting AVID up and running this year. This is thanks to all your hard work. Thank you! Together, we are creating a stronger learning environment for our kids. Please take time to add your honest thoughts about our SVES AVID implementation under each section. Your opinions will help guide our implementation for the 22-23 school year.

Can we put AVID boards outside of our rooms? "Practically paperless" classrooms don't need a lot of display space out there, so that may be a good spot. I'd prefer the space in my room to be for student references and anchor charts. Just a thought!

Originally, we were approved to use AVID money to buy $10 gift cards for the staff "have you used a WICOR strategy lately" drawings each week (the staff member was going to be highlighted in The Panther Post). Then, they came back and said we couldn't get gift cards with district AVID money 🙄 So, we can begin the drawings at any time, but we don't have gift cards for prizes anymore. What else would be a good prize/incentive?

I really liked the idea of the $10 gift card drawings each week. However, I think it needs to be more advertised for buy in. Perhaps the winner of each week could be announced on the announcements so that it reminds teachers to submit their strategies and also provides recognition.

I like the idea of having a choice of AVID strategy of the month. Maybe grade levels come up with their own so we can adapt them as they are age appropriate.

We try to incorporate AVID strategies in our lesson plans at least 2 days a week. It helps those like me that constantly look at the lesson plan and reminds me in the moment to do it.
